Hey Labelers! Sorry I've been gone for so long. Spring and summer are my busiest seasons, and I've been working in two states again, so even though I've tried to record, I haven't always had time to edit. No worries though! We're picking back up with our Hoarding Series and in no time, we'll have all of those episodes completed and then we can talk about the holidays. Yay!

Note: After recording this episode, I read an article from the U.S. Sun, dated January 30, 2025, talking about how The Container Store pulled out of bankruptcy in an effort to go private and restructure. They were in debt TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY MILLION DOLLARS. Apparently, they've received $40 million to figure things out. The article stated that "financial experts" blamed their struggle on high mortgage rates - that "when people move, they buy a heck of a lot of storage and organization stuff" and that's why sales had gone down. All I have to say, other than the fact that I hope that they use part of it to fix the freakin' escalator (once and for all) at the Nashville Green Hills location, is that the "people aren't moving" excuse is total crap. In fact, when people are stuck where they are, they tend to spend MORE on storage, organization, remodeling - anything - to make their current space work.

Now, with that said, please enjoy this episode that I FIRST recorded last SUMMER - TWICE - but due to technical issues, neither saw the light of day. In this first episode of five, of our first-ever hoarding "series," we're going to explore the idea of Hoarding being on its own spectrum and possibly NOT the OCD spectrum, as many currently believe. As I say frequently, I am NOT a mental health professional, but I DO have many opinions on this topic after spending years watching hoarders and their habits. It's something to think about and it's kicking off our discussion on this topic as a whole.

Since this podcast began, over a year ago, we've talked quite a bit about Organizing, a little about Cleaning, and very little about Hoarding - while Hoarding is by far the HARDEST habit for people to deal with. In this introduction, I talk candidly about my feelings, in regards to how the topic of Hoarding is portrayed, on TV and in the news. I also talk about the Hoarding SERIES coming up that I put together, exclusively for this podcast, and how I believe it will help those DEALING with Hoarders in their life. I think this topic is worth discussing and I'm going to do my best to give it the attention it truly deserves.

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter! This episode was recorded over the holiday weekend, but I didn't have time to edit and upload while my family was in town. I hope you can forgive me, as well as get something out of this interesting topic! 

Do you find yourself cutting a ribbon or string off of a new package and "saving it for later"? There's actually nothing wrong with that, unless there's more of the "saving" in your life and not as much of the "using it for later" part.

I was ripping up some papers the other day that didn't mean anything to me when they came in the mail, so they certainly didn't mean anything while I was throwing them in the trash, and I was reminded that some things are just easier to get rid of than others. In this episode, let's talk about that feeling of being "torn" when deciding what goes and what stays, WHO gets to make decisions about where stuff goes and how you can move on with your life, if you really want to.

Hey Labelers! This week, we're on Spring Break, so the pod is ALSO taking a much- needed break! The first half of the week, we did a staycation, and I picked up Bird and Squirrel Watching! I'm really loving it. I bought a squirrel feeder and have been taking video of them eating and playing. So, then I started a YouTube channel and now I'm officially a Bird Lady lol. 

My boyfriend said something this morning that gave me an awesome idea. He said that he's been listening to my nature videos while he works (and organizes, of course). I thought, "Why not offer that to my pod listeners??" So, I took the video footage and created an audio file for you to enjoy as well.
