On the final episode for the year, we recap the rollercoaster ride that was the 2023 calendar year for Arsenal Women. From exhilarating highs to heart-wrenching lows, the journey unfolded with passion, determination, and a commitment to growth.
🌟 Highs and Lows of 2023:From triumphant victories to the challenges that tested the team's resilience, this year had it all.
💔 Heartbreaking Champions League Exit:Relive the intense moments of the 22/23 Champions League, where dreams collided with heartbreak in the semi-finals. Despite crashing out to Wolfsburg so close to the final, it is a game that is remembered so fondly by supporters, particularly after missing out on European football this season.
🚑 League Setbacks and Injury Struggles:With long-term injuries to the likes of Williamson and Little, it is fair to say injuries played a pivotal role in Arsenal's league performance. With these players now returning, do we now have a difficult choice of deciding who starts?
🏆 Conti Cup Triumph:With disappointment in other competitions, Arsenal were able to celebrate a win over rivals Chelsea in a thrilling 3-1 victory over the Blues.
⚽ World Cup Mania:The '23 World Cup proved to be a turning point for the Women's game. We focus on some standout performances from Arsenal stars and of course, the kiss that sparked the discourse and change regarding the treatment of women in the game.
🔍 Importance of Women's Football Interest:Explore the impact of increased interest on the sport's growth and the positive changes it can bring about.
🔄 A Mid-Season Recap:With ten games played in the WSL now, we are almost at the halfway point. Although Arsenal sit in 3rd position and still very much in contention to go on and push Chelsea all the way, the performances have left a lot to be desired in some games this season. From beating Chelsea 4-1 to losing our first NLD in a week, I ask whether the inconsistency in our performances comes from the improvement of other teams in the league or if it is a result of complacency.
🔮 January Outlook: A Month of Challenges and Transitions
Following the winter break, we face a demanding schedule, requiring the team to return in peak form. Over the final two weeks of January, the team is set to engage in a challenging lineup of four games across three competitions. Adding to the excitement is the upcoming January transfer window, fueling speculation about potential arrivals and departures. *

There's plenty to discuss this week! Two massive games with even bigger scorelines; Bristol in the Conti Cup and Leicester in the WSL. Are you not entertained?! We look at the games in detail, including goals and stand out perfromances. Particularly, that second half against The Foxes.
With our emphatic win in the league we now sit three points behind leaders and reigning champions Chelsea. With news of Emma Hayes leaving to joing the US Women's Team at the end of the season, does that help our chances of catching the Blues?
Also which player is OUT of the squad and for what reason? Have a listen and find out.

We are back!
After the internation break, we got our WSL campaign back underway after a rocky start, can we still call it that?
Facing Man City is always a big fixture but with things finally starting to come together for us, it was all to play for.
Results from across the WSL and the shocking news coming out from Chelsea. Is there anything predictable about football?

She doesn't score tap in!
We have made it to the first international break of the season and, well, it has been a fairly rocky start, packed with ups and downs. We take a look at our WSL clash vs Bristol. It was McCabe to the rescue (yet again) & return of the goat! Viv Miedema is back and your defense should be terrified. Off the pitch there was some criticism when this season's squad photo was release. Does a group of 27 white women represent the club and what it stands for? How can this lack of diversity be addressed? There's also news from the world of women’s football including: The BBC's Women's Footballer of the Year shortlist, Champion League groups have been made, and the first (of many) international breaks.

WOW.
What can be said about Arsenal's incredible comeback against Aston Villa in the Women's Super League? The Emirates Stadium erupted as Arsenal scored two late goals to secure their first win of the season. What a game it was. Let's talk goals, Mead's revenge tour and that wild 2-1-7 formation, shall we?!
Have you though about why Villa are conceding so many goals in extra time and more importantly (..sorry, it is an Arsenal Women's Podcast!) why Arsenal have been scoring so many? Not just the women, but the men too! (Is the Reiss Nelson affect really a thing?)
Before the draw, I look at the UEFA Champions League pots following some shock exits in the qualification rounds. Maybe it is time to consider whether it's time to change the format to include more 'big clubs.'

... but it feels like one!
Welcome to the very first episode of Ladies In Red, an Arsenal Women's Podcast. Today, we'll be revisiting Arsenal's summer transfer activity (remember the hopes and dreams we had?) and delving into the somewhat disappointing start to this season.
Champions League heartbreak and a loss on the opening day of the WSL in front of a record crowd? Who put that on the script... Yikes.
There's always sliver linings though, right?!
