The Nixon-Smiley Lady Mustangs picked up a huge District victory, defeating Karnes City Jan. 23 to secure their first District win of the season. The Lady Mustangs played with great energy and effort on both ends of the floor, and their teamwork down the stretch helped seal an important win as the District race continues. Nixon-Smiley was led offensively by Ruby Mendez and Grace Gomez, who each scored 8 points.
