Charles Spurgeon once commented that if you see someone with a Bible that is falling apart, they themselves probably aren’t. Very astute.

Christian belief without Christian behavior is like an empty safe with no valuables - promising, but useless.

God’s intimate knowledge of us brings us either joy or dread.

The battle for the souls of our children is generally won or lost in the home. While the home is burning, many parents are sleeping.

In His grace, God has given His people awesome spiritual privileges. With those great privileges come great responsibilities and accountability. at is why we can say that in Christ, our salvation is God’s free gi , but en route to its consummation, the tolls can be quite high.

Recently on one of my flights a man seated next to me was reading a magazine on one page of which was a bolded quote from Sir Isaac Newton: "I am able to calculate the movement of the stars, but never the madness of man."

Better is one painful stroke from a loving God than one thousand pleasures of hateful sin.

"God's emotions in general and his jealousy in particular have significant implications for understanding his character. While God's jealousy is foundational for his wrath and indignation, it also motivates his relentless pursuit of his loved ones when they go astray. It does not allow him to remain ambivalent when his betrothed wanders from his side. 'It is our confidence that the divine Lover will win His bride.'"
-K. Erik Thoennes author of Godly Jealousy

The Gospel is a word of salvation and a word of judgment entrusted to the Church to declare the Kingdom of God to the world. To those being saved it is grace and life. To those whose hearts are hardened by it, it is the smell of death. See all that He has given freely and bountifully to you. See that despite our sin, the goodness of God is forever displayed in His provision of His Son for us!

Thee Christian walk is not a comfortable one. The impulses of our flesh would entice us to do what feels easy, while the Spirit pushes and challenges us to do the opposite. It is work, but it is also rewarding beyond imagination if we only trust the Spirit to sustain us.
