  • Left Overs for June 29, 2021

Dick McPherson offers this week's Left Overs from the 27 June 2021 sermon.  As disciples, we serve the trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  We are on a journey of learning to live in Jesus Christ's footsteps.  While making this journey, look at how your skills can be put into practice in helping to expand the Kingdom.

  • Left Overs from 2021-06-20 sermon.

Father's Day is celebrated once per year.  But Our Father, a loving God, should be celebrated each and every day.  The example of the prodigal son shows that the father loved both sons equally, irrespective of their faults.  He celebrated when one he thought was lost was found.  Good or bad, he expressed love.  How do we express our love to others?  From the Father's Day sermons of 2021-06-20.

How does a father welcome you after all you have done?  Similar to the Father as he welcomes you back into the flock.  Remember this Father's Day that those who repent are always welcomed back.  Taken from the 2021-06-20 worship service.

From our reading of the Nicene creed, how are we doing as being a holy catholic (universal) and apostolic (founded by Christ using the Apostles) church?  How are we bearing the marks of repentance, seeking growth through faith, and becoming sanctified.  Are we confident in the resurrection?  Taken from the 2021-06-15 Left Overs of Lake Gibson United Methodist Church.

  • 2021-06-08 Left Overs - How do we view these five questions?

A continuation of the past two week's sermons.  How would we answer these five questions?

    a.  Do we fully understand our mission and are we red hot (enthusiastic) to execute?

    b.  Are we focused on the unchurched or ourselves?

    c.  Is our approach to worship and discipleship dated?

    d.  Are we influencing our culture or is our culture influencing us?

    e.  When was the last time you personally invited and brought someone to church?  Are we going "out of our way" to lead others to Jesus Christ?

  • 2021-06-01 "Memorial" Left-Overs

Many have died in service to their country.  They had a mission to perform and did so.

But, with our Covenant Vows, are we not striving to enter the Kingdom of God (Heaven)?  Is this not our country?  Are we willing to sacrifice for our beliefs? Do we act on our stated mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ?

We should remember this as we honor those who have fallen for the United States that there are also those who have fallen in the name of Jesus Christ.  As Christians, do we not owe an obligation to them to make this a better world?  I certainly hope so!  Taken from the 2021-05-30 Worship Service.
