This is Artificial Lure coming to you with your Lake Guntersville fishing report for Sunday, May 11, 2025. We started the day with clear skies and another cool spring morning, with sunrise just before 5:50 AM and sunset expected around 7:40 PM. Water temperatures are holding steady in the mid-60s. The weather has been mild lately, with cool nights and comfortable, sunny days—plenty of light wind, but nothing too tough to fish through. Water clarity is solid, with only minor bumps from earlier rain. And no worries about tides here, lake levels have stayed consistent.
Bass action is red hot right now. The spring spawn is winding down, but there are still largemouth hugging the shallow grass and flats in 3 to 6 feet of water. If you’re targeting big girls, this is your window. Anglers have been weighing in both numbers and size this week. North end spots like Goose Pond have been giving up quality fish, and the mid-lake milfoil near Seibold and Waterfront are producing too. Early morning is the gold mine—start with buzzbaits and topwater frogs over thick grass and mats. Once the sun climbs, slow it down with Senkos, creature baits, and swim jigs along deeper weed edges. Lipless crankbaits in shad or chrome are also pulling nice fish, especially where those bass are starting to slide out post-spawn.
Crappie are out in force and hitting hard near brush piles and docks, especially if you’re casting minnows or small jigs. The bite has been best early and late, with the low light getting them active. If you’re after a mess of slabs, focus around boat docks and deeper stumps close to the channels.
A few catfish have been reported from the main channels and deeper holes, especially for folks soaking nightcrawlers or cut bait.
Best lures lately: topwater frogs, buzzbaits, white swim jigs, soft plastics like Senkos and creature baits, and lipless crankbaits in chrome or shad. For crappie, stick with small jigs and live minnows.
Hotspots today: Goose Pond up north for early topwater action, and mid-lake milfoil fields near Seibold and Waterfront for steady bass all day. Try the deeper docks near Spring Creek if you’re after crappie.
That’s your boots-on-the-ground look at Lake Guntersville for May 11. This bite won’t last forever, so get out there, cast early, and send in those pictures. Tight lines, y’all[1][2][3][4].
