  • Lake Guntersville Fishing Report: Bass Biting, Crappie Slamming, and More!
Hey y'all, Artificial Lure here with your Lake Guntersville fishing report for March 23, 2025.
We're looking at partly cloudy skies today with highs around 70°F and a light breeze from the southwest. Sunrise was at 6:46 AM and sunset will be at 7:01 PM, giving us plenty of daylight to work with.
Now, being a landlocked lake, we don't have tides to worry about, but water levels have been holding steady around 594 feet. The Corps of Engineers has been running some current through the dam, which has really fired up the fish activity.
Speaking of fish, the bass bite has been on fire lately. Anglers have been reporting limits of 20+ pounds, with several trophy largemouths in the 7-9 pound range being caught. The pre-spawn pattern is in full swing, with bass staging on secondary points and grass lines.
Crappie fishing has also been excellent, with some nice slabs being pulled from brush piles in 8-12 feet of water. Catfish action has been steady, especially for those night fishing with cut bait.
For lures, you can't go wrong with a lipless crankbait like a Rat-L-Trap in red or gold. Chatterbaits in white or chartreuse have also been producing well when worked through the grass. For finesse fishing, a shaky head worm in green pumpkin has been money.
If you're looking for live bait, shiners and nightcrawlers have been the ticket for bass and crappie respectively.
As for hot spots, I'd recommend checking out the grass beds around Seibold Creek or working the ledges near South Sauty Creek. The bridge pilings at the Highway 431 causeway have also been holding some good fish.
Remember folks, the fish are moving shallow, so don't be afraid to get up in that skinny water. And if you're out on the water today, keep an eye out for those tournament boats. There's a big high school tournament going on, so give 'em plenty of space.
That's all for now, y'all. Get out there and wet a line! This is Artificial Lure, signing off. Tight lines and good fishing!

  • Guntersville Fishing Report: Prespawn Bass Bite Heats Up, Crappie Action Picks Up
Hey y'all, Artificial Lure here with your Lake Guntersville fishing report for March 14, 2025.
The weather's been a bit unpredictable lately, but things are looking up for the weekend. We're expecting partly cloudy skies with highs in the mid-60s and lows in the upper 40s. Winds will be light and variable, making for some nice conditions out on the water. Sunrise is at 6:03 AM and sunset at 6:54 PM, giving us plenty of daylight to work with.
Now, onto the fishing! The bass bite has been heating up as we move into the pre-spawn period. Water temps are hovering in the mid-50s, and the fish are starting to move towards their shallow spawning areas. Anglers have been reporting limits of 20+ pounds, with several trophy largemouths in the 7-9 pound range being caught.
The most productive pattern has been targeting grass edges and points in 5-10 feet of water. Lipless crankbaits in red or gold have been absolute killers, especially when ripped through the grass. Chatterbaits and bladed jigs in white or chartreuse have also been producing well. For those looking to finesse some bigger bites, try slow-rolling a 3/4 oz football jig with a craw trailer along deeper grass lines.
Crappie fishing has also been picking up, with some nice slabs being caught around bridge pilings and deeper brush piles. Minnows and small jigs in chartreuse or white have been the ticket.
As for hot spots, I'd recommend checking out the grass flats near Honeycomb Creek and the bridge area at South Sauty Creek. The mouth of Town Creek has also been producing some quality fish lately.
Remember folks, the fish are moving shallow, so don't be afraid to get up in those creeks and coves. Good luck out there, and tight lines!

  • Guntersville Bass Bonanza: Prespawn Madness and Slabs of Joy
Hey y'all, Artificial Lure here with your Lake Guntersville fishing report for March 11, 2025.
We've had a mild winter and the bass are already starting to move shallow. Water temps are in the mid-50s and climbing. The lake level is holding steady around 594 feet. Sunrise today was at 6:05 AM and sunset will be at 5:52 PM.
The big news is the pre-spawn bite is heating up fast. Lots of 3-5 pounders being caught, with a few pushing 7-8 pounds. Best action has been in 5-10 feet of water around grass lines and creek channels. Red lipless crankbaits like the Rat-L-Trap have been absolute money. Chatterbaits in white or chartreuse are also producing. For finesse fishing, try a shaky head with a green pumpkin Zoom Trick Worm.
Crappie fishing has been decent too. Minnows under a slip bobber around brush piles in 12-15 feet of water are your best bet. Some nice slabs in the 1-2 pound range being caught.
For you catfish folks, cut shad or nightcrawlers on the bottom near the river channel are working well. Several 20+ pounders reported this week.
Hot spots to check out: The grass flats near Waterfront Grocery have been on fire. Also try the creek channel swings in North Sauty and South Sauty creeks. The rip rap along the causeway is holding some good fish too.
Remember, the big girls are feeding up for the spawn. Now's the time to land that trophy bass. Get out there and tight lines, y'all!
