Victory is not automatic for the people of God; there must be obedience.  But even after disobedience there is forgiveness and blessing and LIFE for ALL who will come to Jesus and worship him in spirit and in truth.

What steps of obedience do you need to devote yourself to, both for your own sake and for the sake of the community?

If we are going to be faithful to the great commandment of loving God and loving others, that means we need to do all we can to avoid the trap of sin because it hinders our relationship with God and sooner or later it will adversely impact others.  Thus, the more we understand how we fall into the trap, the better equipped we will be to avoid it.

We can’t have a temporary relationship with sin, because it will destroy us as individuals and will have repercussions that affect us all.

There is no substitute for faithful obedience. Obedience is an expression of faith, and it is the result of worship.

If we’ve been wandering in the wilderness—if there are challenges that preoccupy us (career, family, success, etc…)—it’s time for us to move ahead, but before we do, we need to pause and remember who we are and whose we are. When we do then nothing that stands before us will be daunting.

When need to establish memorials in our lives that remind us of what God has done in the past as they will give us confidence of God’s faithfulness as we step into the future.

When we are confronted and challenged with what is frightening, but also filled with opportunity, we can have confidence to move forward as God is with us and he will demonstrate his power, his care, his concern.

We are at a critical place in the life of this community of faith. We can decide as individuals and as a community not to move forward because the risk seems too great and we are comfortable where we are, or we can trust God and allow Him to do amazing things among us and through us.

If God can save Rahab, then he can save anyone. And beyond saving, like Rahab, he can take our life and use us to bring the savior to the world.

When God tells us it’s time to move, we need to move, and we need to do it according to how his word has directed us. The conquest of Canaan was not about personal gain, it was about the

cause of God and the people of God.
