God presses us to deeper commitment and to love him most. Today we see such a test for Abraham.

A different king and the same lie. Abraham has the covenant promise of God and yet finds himself using deception to protect himself. This passage shows how God works in the midst of our sinfulness

To Sarah a chld is born and a 25 year old promise becomes reality. The promise does not eleminate conflict. It creates its own coloteral damage. This moment paints a wonderful picture of God.

What does it look like to live resurrected. We begin looking at being alive as as one saved by grace.

Easter is a celebration because it is not a funeral. Our Savior is alive and gives us the opportunity to live a resurrected life

We often want to focus of the pleasant and comforting parts of God’s character, his love and mercy. He is also judge and his anger is righteous. Our passage today shows both sides of the Lord.

The story of Abram continues, this week God gives new names to Sarai and him. He also names two sons and affirms his covenant. As we reflect on the story what name do we need to claim for ourselves?

A different picture of Abram emerges as he rescues Lot. The father of a nation is pictured as a warrior that becomes a victor. We take cues from his battle to fight our own. Do you see yourself as a warrior and a victor?

Abram returns to Bethel (House of God) and deals with the strife caused by Lot's and his wealth, specifically overcrowding of herds in limited land. We see the contrast of impulsive decisions and living inside biblical promises.
