Hey there, fellow anglers! Artificial Lure here with your Lake Texoma fishing report for March 12, 2025. Let me tell ya, the fishing's been heating up lately as we transition into spring.
First off, no need to worry about tides on this landlocked lake. Sunrise is at 6:42 AM and sunset at 6:32 PM, giving us plenty of daylight to wet our lines. Weather-wise, we're looking at partly cloudy skies with highs around 68°F and a light breeze from the southeast at 5-10 mph. Water temp is sitting at a comfortable 58°F.
Striped bass have been the stars of the show lately. Anglers are reporting good catches in the 15-25 pound range, with some real lunkers pushing 30+ pounds. These stripers are starting to move into shallower water as they follow the bait fish. Best spots have been around points and humps in 20-35 feet of water.
For lures, you can't go wrong with a 1.5 oz chartreuse slab spoon or a 4-inch white or chartreuse paddle tail swimbait on a 3/4 oz jighead. If you're into topwater action, try working a Heddon Super Spook or a Strike King Sexy Dog early in the morning or late evening.
Live bait fishermen are having success drifting with gizzard shad. Just make sure you're matching the size of the bait to the size of the fish you're targeting.
Catfish action has been steady too, especially for blue cats. Cut shad or prepared baits fished along river channels in 30-50 feet of water are producing nice stringers.
As for hot spots, I'd recommend checking out the area around Burns Run or trying your luck at Platter Flats. Just remember, it can get crowded out there, so mind your manners and give other boats plenty of space.
That's all for now, folks. Remember to practice catch and release when you can, and let's keep Lake Texoma one of the best fisheries in the country. Tight lines!
