As we transition our Sundays into a time that includes a "Course Discipleship Hour" we will explore some parables of Jesus to help us understand what discipleship means and how a faithful response to this call on our lives might look.

Famous Old Testament theologian Walter Brueggemann arranges the Psalms into three categories: Orientation, Dis-orientation, and New Orientation. The Psalms voice the human experience in the full range of emotion and life. Each of the three categories fit our lives. In the end prayer is an altar of communication between humanity and God.

What is infallible? What makes a text sacred? Why the Bible? Why this God?

As Christians, we seem to be called to live out of a deliberate emptiness, a sort of chosen nonfulfillment.  This can be a difficult word in a culture that tells each of us that we are, or at least should be, in control.  Together we explore Luke 12:35-40 along with other scripture references in order to find hope in "a future created by God rather than ourselves."

We can ask God to keep giving us everything we want. But he has another miraculous power...to make us content with what we already have!
