As we explore Ruth’s story again, we focus on Boaz—a man of great character who was committed to his family and determined to do what was right. Though he was wealthy, he was generous; though he held authority, he was humble when needed. Boaz, an ancestor of King David and Jesus, shows us that facing difficult challenges can lead to a legacy of faith and righteousness.

'If I walk in the door, I don't have any shoes on and I ask for help, what are you going to assume? You're going to assume that I need help getting some shoes.' In our relationship with God, there is transformational power in approaching him with our desires. He wants us to share our desires with him because as we share our desires, we reveal the deeper parts of our heart. In this family service, Pastor Brian walks us through the story of "blind Bart" who pursues Jesus persistently and receives from Jesus an odd question, "what do you want?"

The spiritual journey that leads to new life requires a new direction. When we say yes to Jesus, we are are making an "about face" that will affect every area of our life. As we consider the topic of baptism as a church, it's vital that we understand how repentance (turning around) plays a role in the "raised to walk in new life" part of baptism.
Our church partners at 11|28 Community Church in Oak Creek are doing an amazing gospel work, and in this sermon, we get to enjoy the teaching of one of their pastors, Mike Francisco.

What does it mean to be overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit? When we look at the topic of baptism, we must talk about our encounter and indwelling of God's Spirit. Many of us get a little weirded out or even skeptical when we hear stories about prophecy or spiritual dreams. On the other hand, scripture speaks extensively about God's gift of His Spirit, dwelling in believers. So, what happens when we God lives in us? What does that experience change things in our everyday lives?

Every great story has that moment when everything that was, and everything that will be, makes a dramatic turn because of the events of that moment. Birth of child, the day she said yes, a tearful goodbye, and acceptance letter. It’s not just the moment that made the change, it’s the liminal nature of the moment – a translation on your part that you’ll never be the same because of what has happened.
That moment in Jesus was the cross. The liminal moment for you is your day of baptism.

What is the gospel? A common word, inside and outside of the church, but it's not the easiest to define. Many Christians might say that the gospel is the most important thing to them, but if pressed to clearly explain it, it'd be an uphill climb. This week, we are going to identify a clear definition of the gospel, some real life barriers to sharing it with others and some resources for sharing it clearly.
In this sermon, Aaron mentions The Everyday Gospel. If you need a helpful resource to share your faith, you'll find this workbook is a great choice for you.
