  • Following Jesus Part 4 - Studying And Applying
    By Pastor Brandon Dirmann
As followers of Jesus we have been commanded to study and apply God's Word so that we know who God is and what God does, so that God can work in and through our lives.
“God designed the human mind for studying and applying discovered truth. The Word of God reveals that a primary reason for this design is so that we can investigate, meditate, and apply God’s truth. Jesus perfectly exemplified this diligent study and application of the Word of God, and commanded His followers to do the same.” (By Pastor Gil Dirmann)
    BIG QUESTION:
What happens when you feel like you're doing this, but you're not seeing the progress you think you should be seeing?
    Scriptures (All NKJV)
    - 2 Timothy 2:15 - Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
    - Matthew 13:18-23 - “Therefore hear the parable of the sower: 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. 20 But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.
22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. 23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”
Message Points (4 Keys to Progress)
    1. Press the Word down through study
    2. Keep the Word through a commitment to application
    3. Guard the Word through meditation
    4. Have patience through the progress

  • Following Jesus Part 3 - Empowering And Liberating
    By Pastor Brandon Dirmann
Sub Title: I'm Not Stuck And Neither Are You
    Scriptures (All NKJV)
    - Romans 6:11-14 - Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
    - Luke 4:18-19 - “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor;He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind,To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.
    - John 8:36 -  Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
    - 2 Corinthians 3:17 - Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
    - 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 - Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
    - John 14:12 -  “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
    - James 4:7 - Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
    - Ephesians 6:10-13 - Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

  • Following Jesus Part 2 - Loving And Obeying
    By Pastor Gil Dirmann
    Scriptures (All NKJV)
    - John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
    - 1 John 4:9-10 -  In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
    - John 14:21-24 - He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.
    - Luke 6:46-49 - “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? 47 Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. 49 But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”
    - John 15:13 - Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
    - Hebrews 5:8 - though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.
    - Matthew 6:33 - But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Message Points (3 Truths About Loving and Obeying Jesus)
    1. Loving and obeying Jesus is voluntary, but never optional
    2. Loving and obeying Jesus deepens our relationship with God
    3. Loving and obeying Jesus is foundational to Kingdom life
Love - (Gk) Agapao - A love not focused on what it can get, but on what it can give
Obey - (Gk) (Collective) - Listening intently to a command, vigorously protecting what's been said, and thoroughly carrying it out to completion.
Excerpt from Following Jesus:“The writers of the New Testament considered being a servant and follower of Jesus to be their highest and most cherished honor. In their minds, it was inconceivable to claim to love Jesus without diligently obeying Him.” (Pg. 23)

  • Following Jesus Part 1 - Repenting And Believing
    By Pastor Gil Dirmann
    Scriptures
    - 2 Timothy 3:1-7 (WENT) - Be sure of this. In the last days hard times will come. 2 People will love themselves. They will love money. They will talk about themselves and be proud. They will say wrong things about people. They will not obey their parents. They will not be thankful. They will not keep anything holy. 3 They will have no love. They will not agree with anybody. They will tell lies about people. They will have no self-control. They will beat people. They will not love anything that is good. 4 They cannot be trusted. They will act quickly, without thinking. They are proud of themselves. They love to have fun more than they love God. 5 They act as if they worshipped God, yet they do not let God's power work in their lives. Keep away from people like that. 6 They are the kind who go quietly into people's houses. There they get foolish women to believe them. These women know that they have done many wrong things. And they want to do many kinds of wrong things. 7 They are always trying to learn, but never able to find out what is really true
    - Mark 1:14-15 (NKJV) - Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and Believe in the gospel.
Repent - (Gk) metanoeo - A decision to completely turn; to change one's thoughts, behavior and actions
Believe - (Gk) pisteau - To be persuaded of; to place confidence in something or someone to the point your actions correspond
    - Luke 5:29-32 (NKJV) - Then Levi gave Him a great feast in his own house. And there were a great number of tax collectors and others who sat down with them. 30 And their scribes and the Pharisees complained against His disciples, saying, “Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” 31 Jesus answered and said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
    - Acts 2:38-39 (NKJV) - Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
    - Ephesians 4:21-24 (NKJV) - if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
    - Hebrews 10:14 (NIV) - For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
    - Romans 12:1-2 (NLT) - And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
    - Matthew 28:16-20 (NKJV) - Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
    - 2 Timothy 4:1-5 (NKJV) - I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

  • Fill The House Part 4 - The Pathway Of Praise
    By Pastor Brandon Dirmann
    Scriptures (All NKJV)
    - Psalm 100:1-5 - Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
    2 Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
    3 Know that the Lord, He is God;
    It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
    5 For the Lord is good;
    His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.
    - 1 Peter 2:9 - But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
    - Acts 16:2-26 -  He was well spoken of by the brethren who were at Lystra and Iconium. 3 Paul wanted to have him go on with him. And he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in that region, for they all knew that his father was Greek. 4 And as they went through the cities, they delivered to them the decrees to keep, which were determined by the apostles and elders at Jerusalem. 5 So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.
6 Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. 7 After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. 8 So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.
11 Therefore, sailing from Troas, we ran a straight course to Samothrace, and the next day came to Neapolis, 12 and from there to Philippi, which is the foremost city of that part of Macedonia, a colony. And we were staying in that city for some days. 13 And on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the riverside, where prayer was customarily made; and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there. 14 Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. 15 And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” So she persuaded us.
16 Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. 17 This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” 18 And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour. 19 But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities.
20 And they brought them to the magistrates, and said, “These men, being Jews, exceedingly trouble our city; 21 and they teach customs which are not lawful for us, being Romans, to receive or observe.” 22 Then the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods. 23 And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. 24 Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.
25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.
    - Psalms 9:1-2 - I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart;
I will tell of all Your marvelous works.
    2 I will be glad and rejoice in You;
I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.
    - Psalms 103:1-2 - Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
    - Philippians 4:8 - Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
    - 2 Corinthians 4:13-15 - And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak, 14 knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you. 15 For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

    - 1 John 5:14-15 (NKJV) - “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”
    - Matt 6:7-15 (NKJV) - “And when you pray do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. In this manner, therefore, pray:‘Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.” And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. • Fill The House Part 1 - The Importance of Fasting and Prayer
    By Pastor Gil Dirmann
    Fill The House:
Posturing ourselves for God to FILL US with:
    His manifest presence
    His supernatural power
    His divine purpose
    Scriptures
    - Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV) - “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; Do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the waste land.”
    - Isaiah 58:1-14 (NLT) - “Shout with the voice of a trumpet blast.
        Shout aloud! Don’t be timid.
Tell my people Israel of their sins!
2     Yet they act so pious!
They come to the Temple every day
and seem delighted to learn all about me.
They act like a righteous nation
that would never abandon the laws of its God.
They ask me to take action on their behalf,
pretending they want to be near me.
3 ‘We have fasted before you!’ they say.
        ‘Why aren’t you impressed?
We have been very hard on ourselves,
and you don’t even notice it!’
“I will tell you why!” I respond.
“It’s because you are fasting to please yourselves.
    Even while you fast,
        you keep oppressing your workers.
    4What good is fasting
when you keep on fighting and quarreling?
    This kind of fasting
will never get you anywhere with me.
    5 You humble yourselves
by going through the motions of penance,
    bowing your heads
like reeds bending in the wind.
    You dress in burlap
        and cover yourselves with ashes.
Is this what you call fasting?
Do you really think this will please the Lord?
6 “No, this is the kind of fasting I want:
    Free those who are wrongly imprisoned;
lighten the burden of those who work for you.
    Let the oppressed go free,
and remove the chains that bind people.
7 Share your food with the hungry,
and give shelter to the homeless.
Give clothes to those who need them,
and do not hide from relatives who need your help.
8 “Then your salvation will come like the dawn,
and your wounds will quickly heal.
Your godliness will lead you forward,
and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.
9 Then when you call, the Lord will answer.
‘Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply.
“Remove the heavy yoke of oppression.
Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors!
    10 Feed the hungry,
        and help those in trouble.
Then your light will shine out from the darkness,
and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.
11 The Lord will guide you continually,
giving you water when you are dry
        and restoring your strength.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
        like an ever-flowing spring.
12 Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities.
Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls
        and a restorer of homes.
13 “Keep the Sabbath day holy.
Don’t pursue your own interests on that day,
    but enjoy the Sabbath
and speak of it with delight as the Lord’s holy day.
Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day,
and don’t follow your own desires or talk idly.
14 Then the Lord will be your delight.
I will give you great honor
and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestor Jacob.
        I, the Lord, have spoken!”
    Message Points
    1. What is Biblical Fasting?
Biblical fasting is abstaining from the pleasure of eating in order to draw closer to God, in order to gain spiritual balance/vitality.
    Matt 5 & 6 – Sermon on Mount…
Blessing our enemies = Filter our response in order to pass along God’s mercy and forgiveness (5:38-48).
Serving/Prayer = Sacrifice time and energy to invest into others (6:1-15).
Give up food = Fast physical and emotional strength to receive spiritual strength (6:16-18).
Giving = Forfeit finances to acknowledge God’s ownership, and invest outward (6:19-24).
    False reasons for fasting:
    To earn God’s favor.
Ephesians 1:3 - Already blessed with all spiritual blessings
To show how spiritual we are!
II Corinthians 5:21 - We are already righteous To get God to do something He doesn't want to do
I John 5:14 - If we ask anything according to His will…He hears and we receive!
    2. Why do we need to fast?
Fasting helps us draw closer to God, and gain spiritual balance and vitality.
Fasting softens a hardened heart and sharpens our spiritual ears.
Fasting exposes selfishness and pride, and trains undisciplined flesh to submit
In this way…fasting can release God’s power into areas that are currently stopped up.
    3. When do we need to fast?
    Vision for Future (Ezra 8:21-23)
Navigating or Readying for Transitions (Luke 3:21-22)
In Need of Deliverance (Esther 4:16)
    Intercession/Spiritual Warfare (Dan 10; Mark 9)
