GOLIATH: Sometimes you need unorthodox methods if you want to defeat a gigantic problem.  There’s always a better way to do things.  From 1 Samuel 17.

HOW TO DEAL WITH MEAN PEOPLE:  Jesus tells us that we will have no regrets if we are nice to those who are not nice to us.  Personal growth is tied to how we treat those who mistreat us.  So treat your enemies well.

EASY RELIGION: Following Jesus is easier than being a slave to the values of the world.

NO CONDEMNATION:  Because of what Jesus did for us, it is impossible for us to be condemned by God.  So let’s stop condemning ourselves.

WHY WERE THE ANGELS HAPPY?  :  The angels were happy because Jesus finally entered this world to show us what God is like and to offer himself as a ransom for us.  Because of him we no longer have to be slaves to ourselves nor evil.  We can rejoice and be glad in it.  You can be delivered from whatever demons have a chokehold on you.

THE DENALI OF ETHICS:  Jesus revolutionized the world with this simple teaching.  Treat others the way you want to be treated.  The applications are obvious: marriage, relationships with kids, parents, co-workers and neighbors. In other words, followers of Jesus love and serve.  His teachings are the Denali of ethics.  Live them and your life will be radically different.

WHAT ABOUT FOUL LANGUAGE? Jesus teaches us that if we avoid putdowns and triangulation and use good, helpful and positive words instead our lives will be better.  Makes sense, doesn’t it?

CURRENCY FOR THE SOUL:  We report for duty every day to someone or something.  Set your priorities and your treasure where God intends them.  Then you will find new currency for your soul.

IS DIVORCE OK?  Divorce is nasty business.  It is permitted but not required in Scripture.  Divorce can be an extension of grace that gives us a chance to get past a big mistake.  The obligation of the followers of Jesus is to be supportive of those who are hurting including those going through divorce.

HOW TO GET EVEN.  Revenge is for wimps.  Real men and women take it and let God get even.  Showing revenge is a display of immature character.  Connection to the kingdom of Jesus turns our desire for revenge into a desire to bless.
