The words of the Great Commission in Matthew 28 are the final work of Christ. His final work was to commission his disciples to carry on his mission of bringing the Kingdom of God to this earth by making disciples.

People are only saved through Christ's redeeming work. But the impact of that work is only experienced when disciples of Jesus take the message to others. That's why this Great Commission is so important. It links the work of Christ with the rest of the world. Join us as we walk through the Great Commission passage and seek God’s direction for Lakeview Wesleyan Church.

In the beginning, God created the world and he created us... for relationship! His purpose for creation was that all things, and all people would be in relationship with Him and with one another. This week we’re talking about this most important relationship and why it matters.

When we approach others from a selfish perspective, we are elevating ourselves and our needs above theirs. In essence, we are saying that we are better than them and they are here to serve us and meet our needs. This not only kills our relationships, but it dishonors God because it directly contradicts the teaching and way of Jesus. Today we’ll take a look at the way of Jesus and how it differs from the way of the world.

Jesus challenged us in his Sermon on the Mount toward a radical righteousness. It’s more than external obedience. It’s aligning ourselves with the spirit of God’s law. There are three aspects of our lives that we must “steer” in order to allow God to create that radical righteousness in us: faithfulness to ourselves, becoming people of our word; faithfulness to others in the covenants we make; and faithfulness to God to make him the ONLY one we serve. Let’s examine Jesus’ teaching together.

The central theme of the Scriptures is relationship. If we want to live life as as intended, we have to live our lives in right relationship with God and right relationship with others. The next few week’s we’ll be walking through a three different “relationship assassins” that kill our relationships and keep us from experiencing the life God wants us to live with him and with each other.
This week, we are going to look at the relationship assassin of UNFORGIVENESS. To maintain healthy relationships, we MUST be quick to ask for forgiveness and we MUST be quick to give forgivenss. If we don’t, it takes root in our hearts and gives the devil a foothold. Together, let’s look at what wisdom the Scritpures have to offer us.
