Hi, I’m investigative journalist Mollye Barrows. I’ve been covering crime in Florida’s Panhandle for years and welcome to Gulf Coast Confidential Conversations. Here we dive into the deep end and discuss what we can learn from the true crime cases I talk about on Gulf Coast Confidential.

My co-host is Pam Hill. Her sister, Sharon Aydelott, was murdered by her son on Christmas Eve 2013, and she has a unique perspective on crimes and scandals, as a survivor of violent crime, a grief and loneliness researcher, and a pharmacist, as well. 

This is the first of a three part series called, “Lambs to the Slaughter.”  We're discussing several cases that involve abusers in positions of authority who used their power to prey on vulnerable children and sexually abuse them. 

Lambs to the Slaughter: Part 1 is on the arrest and conviction of Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church youth minister, Ryan Walsh. He was arrested in 2020 for sending sexually explicit texts messages to a 13-year-old girl in the church’s youth group and later touching her behind the local recreation center. 

Not only did Ryan Walsh and church leadership know the girl had been abused before she and her family became members, but according to a civil lawsuit filed against them, Walsh had virtually no oversight during his time with the vulnerable young girl.
