 On this Author Call interview of the Landman Pivot podcast, Pivot Coach, Ryan Fairbanks, has a  conversation with Pat Mingarelli about his books Drawing Near: Meeting God in His Creation.

What does this author visit have to do with you and your Land Skills?

One of the Bonus Skills is connecting with God and being able to pay attention to your intuition for the situation that you are facing, so don't neglect this one. The closer you are connected in relationship with God, the more you can hear and feel His guiding influence and instruction in your career and life.

Take care of your family, take care of your career, take care of your service and take care of yourself.

Pat says, " It's official! My devotional "Drawing Near: Meeting God in His Creation" has been released today! I hear it's headed to the woods to meet with God. You should too."

Pat helps people get out into God's creations and finding ways to connect with Him. This photo/devotional helps us look at nature and nature photography in ways the connect us back to God.

We also unpack part of the process of publishing a book, which I'm really interested in because the Land Skills book that I've written and have been refining for a few years needs to get out into the market where it can serve you. It's time!

This week I'm talking with editors and publishers to keep moving it forward.

Okay, you may be thinking, "What does Entrepreneurship have to do with Land Skills?"

I hear you.

If you are an Independent Contractor Landman, it has more to do with it than you may have thought.

You own your own business, you contract through Brokers and for Clients.

You need to manage your expenses, ideally, mostly to things that you can be reimbursed for or assign and recoup. You need to know your metrics and how to use them to manage your business, especially if you ever want to get beyond the grind of doing day-rate work and into the part of the industry where you build and sell prospects, lead other land professionals, or even producing your own wells and fields.

In this Author Call with Curtis Morley, Author of The Entrepreneur's Paradox, he talks about some of the challenges and pitfalls of being an entrepreneur. These are things that we all face in the oil & gas industry, whether by our own ignorance or that of those around us, and the better you can be prepared for them, the more you can be prepared to pivot when they show up.
