Who’s the most talented team in college football? With the 2023 season officially underway, we can officially answer that question with its newly updated Team Talent Composite, a metric that examines and ranks every FBS team — accounting for transfers, dismissals and other early departures — based on how their players were rated in high school.Since the Team Talent Composite debuted in 2015, every national champion ranked within the top 10 of the rankings. And every title winner but one (2016 Clemson) ranked within the top six.Obviously, this metric isn’t perfect. Some players fail to live up to the hype while others outperform high school expectations. College football season begins in earnest this week and one of the games on the schedule pits the Florida Gators of the SEC against the Utah Utes of the Pac-12. The Gators were 6-7 a year ago, with a 3-5 mark in the SEC. The Utes were 10-4 a year ago and 7-2 in the Pac-12. Cutdown day in the NFL has come to an end.
