Beautiful Story and one to cherish
This is an absolutely adorable story that I will cherish and enjoy for years to come. I fell in love with the illustrations. They were colorful, vibrant, and just really enjoyable to sit and look at. This will be a book I will read to my niece when she is older. I recommend this book to parents with children. This book will have children wanting to have it read several times to them and will become a household story for years to come
SNOW FUN
I would give this book top grades for many reasons. First, it provides the example of sibling cooperation, Adam, Gabi and Abigail use cooperation and teamwork. Second, they decide to build a snow-woman instead of the stereotypical snowman. Third, the illustrator, Milena Radeva draws adorable black children providing racial diversity in children's literature. The story is a simple one; the children each take part and describe the building process. Mom watches from the window, praises their creation and offers hot cocoa when they are finished. There are a few minor grammar and formatting issues, but the book is a gem for preschoolers and early elementary school children. It also makes a cute bedtime story when snow is in the forecast or your child is longing for it!
It brings back memories!
The negative reviews of this book are overrated. One complaint was about the grammar. Which the only part that I could find was when the six year old was talking. An having a seven year old I know they phrase things a little different at times. My guess is that this is a story based off of true events in the authors life, and probably written exactly as her child said it.
The other concern was where is mom? Noticing the setting they live in the country. Thing are done differently in the country than the city. You don't have as much to worry about crime wise. Also, I noticed in the story that the snowman was in clear view of the window and mom had hot coco ready for them when she came out. These negative rating remind me of another great book Sir Knighty and the mean ugly dragon that got a few lower starts for no apparent reason.
Overall it is a wonderful written book that you and your children will enjoy on a cold winter day with a cup of hot coco.
"Putting everything together wasn't easy...
...They had to help each other." Children's book with superb illustrations about three kids helping one another assemble a snow women in the backyard one winter day.
