Girl, are you being loyal… or are you enabling? 

Sometimes, in our desire to love people, support them, and stand by them, we end up making excuses for their behavior, protecting them from consequences, and carrying responsibilities that were never ours to carry.

In this episode of Las Locas Chronicles, we're having an honest conversation about the difference between loving someone and enabling their unhealthy behavior. Because sometimes, the hurt we carry starts showing up in how we lead. 

We become more defensive, struggle with trust, lose patience, or find ourselves reacting from our wounds instead of leading with wisdom.

Before you can lead others, you must first learn to lead yourself!

In this episode of Las Locas Chronicles, Pastors Alexa and Jessica dive into the life of Joseph and uncover six powerful lessons about self-leadership, emotional maturity, integrity, and faithfulness.

Joseph went from the dream to the pit, from slavery to prison, and eventually to the palace. But before God entrusted him with leading a nation, Joseph had to learn how to lead himself.

We're talking about six essential leadership lessons:

1. Lead yourself when life doesn't go according to plan. You can't always control your circumstances, but you can control how you respond.

2. Guard your heart when you've been hurt. Don't let yesterday's wounds become tomorrow's leadership problems.

3. Lead your appetites when nobody is watching. Integrity begins with learning to tell yourself NO.

4. Lead yourself when doing right doesn't work out. Faithfulness isn't always immediately rewarded.

5. Lead where you are before asking God for somewhere bigger. Be faithful with what's in front of you.

6. Lead your emotions when you finally have power. Emotional maturity means choosing reconciliation over revenge.

Here's the truth: Your gifts may open doors, but your character determines whether you're ready to walk through them.

Joseph's first leadership assignment wasn't Egypt. It was himself.

Before you lead THEM, lead YOU!

This month on Las Locas Chronicles, we’re dedicating our conversations to the women who are leading, serving, building, creating, and answering God’s call—whether that happens in ministry, the workplace, business, or somewhere in between.

But while we eat, we’re getting REAL about what it actually feels like to lead.

We talk about the moments when you’re overwhelmed and how carrying too much can eventually take a toll on your body. We talk about how Las Locas Chronicles itself has become another way we do ministry—because ministry doesn’t always look like a pulpit.

The question is always: Does it point back to Jesus?

Because whatever God has called you to do, STAND ON IT. People will question your assignment. They may not understand it. And sometimes, the hardest disappointment is realizing that the people closest to you may not support what God has asked you to do.

But consistency matters.

Your assignment will require investment—your time, your resources, your energy, and your yes. And you don't have to know every step ahead of time. Allow God to lead the NEXT STEP. Because everything is a step.

Whether you're a woman in ministry, leading in the workplace, building a business, raising a family, or simply trying to figure out what God is asking of you in this season—stick to the assignment.

And while you're doing it, take care of YOU.

You are a reflection of God. Take the time to look good, feel good, rest, and care for the woman carrying the assignment. And when you see another woman struggling, instead of criticizing her, ask:

“How can I help?”

And if you don't know how to do something?

ASK.

There is no shame in saying, “I don't know how to do this. Can you show me?”

So grab your lunch, pull up a chair, and hang out with Jess & Lex for a conversation about leadership, disappointment, consistency, self-care, obedience, and staying anchored to the One who gave you the assignment in the first place.

Whatever God called you to do—stand on it.
Stay consistent.
Take the next step.
And keep pointing it all back to Jesus.

Because LOCA… the assignment is yours.

What do you do when you’re not where you want to be—but you’re also not where you used to be?

Sometimes we get so focused on what hasn’t happened yet that we forget how far God has already brought us. The Ebenezer reminds us that we don’t have to be at the destination to recognize God’s faithfulness along the way.

You may still be waiting, healing, growing, or becoming—but that doesn’t mean God hasn’t been moving.

You’re not there yet. But thank God, you’re not where you were.

The Difference Between Giving Up & Surrendering!

Have you ever said, “I’m done!” but deep down you weren’t really done?

Giving up says: “I don’t believe this can change.”
Surrender says: “I don’t have to control how this changes.”

Sometimes the answer isn’t doing more—it’s recognizing just how tired we really are.

Inspired by Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith’s book Sacred Rest, we unpack the seven types of rest: physical, mental, emotional, sensory, creative, social, and spiritual. Because sleep alone doesn’t always fix exhaustion. Sometimes we’re tired in places a nap can’t reach.

We also look at Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:27:

“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

How much energy are we spending worrying, striving, overthinking, and trying to control what only God can handle?

Maybe it’s time to stop running on empty, make room for real rest, and allow God to rebuild us from scratch.
