Melanie Oliveiro speaks with Singaporean filmmaker and director Nicole Midori Woodford about her debut feature film ‘Last Shadow At First Light’ a Singapore-Japanese co-production, which has bagged some Asia Pacific Screen Award nominations. Woodford will discuss the film’s main themes like exploration of memory, trauma and intergenerational relationships. Informed by director Nicole Midori Woodford’s memories of her Japanese grandmother, the film follows teenager Ami as she traverses from Singapore to Japan in search of her vanishing mother.
