Diana Lee Santamaria has been an early childhood educator for eight years. She has a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies. Diana Lee’s preschool learning books entitled, DLee’s Color Hunt, DLee’s Outdoor Countdown, DLee's First Day of School, DLee's Nighttime Scare, and DLee's Bad Day (Un mal día de DLee) are the first five educational books in her series. As an educator, Diana Lee wanted to create books that were authentic to her students, while enhancing their overall developmental abilities. Thus, she has ensured that the illustrations are bold, fun, and bright with quirky, unique, and diverse characters. As a woman of Hispanic descent, Diana Lee understands that children need to see characters that are representative of themselves. Therefore, diversity is a key element in every character within DLee’s World books. As a child, Diana Lee felt she was unable to relate to a lot of characters in the stories she read and feels that minority children are still underrepresented in books today. In every book Diana Lee has created, you will see a variety of divergent characters from DLee, to her Mommy and Daddy, Rye, Ms. Mayo and so on.

The main character DLee is based on the author’s own physical appearance as a child and “DLee’s World” based on a compilation of her own childhood and experiences as an adult and teacher. Diana Lee’s books encompass her creativity and quirkiness, while still maintaining relevance to her preschool readers, three to five years of age. Her scholastic series aims to answer the educational questions and challenges that her readers face throughout the beginning stages of their lives.

OUR SPECIAL GUEST IS CHILDREN'S BOOK AUTHOR - BARBARA PIERCE.My name is Barbara Janine Pierce, I am the youngest of three children, my Mom is one amazing women who taught me to always believe in myself and always keep God first. I was born in Chapel, Maryland and moved to Delaware during the summer of 1990 and now I live in New Castle ,Delaware. I have been married to my husband Bill for 20 and half years, we have two amazing children Jazzmine and Steffon and our family pet Milo. My career for over 32 years was in Early Childhood Education but for the last five years I have worked for the Brandywine School District as an Paraeducator. (One-on-One) I love working with children and their families. God gave me the gift to try my best to help others. When I was in high school my 12th grade year we were assigned to a writing project we all had to write a haiku, which I never heard of this before. We had to come up with a poem 5-7-5, so I just followed the directions and wrote down what was on my heart, long story short the teacher was amazed at my creating writing and how powerful my poem was. That is how I found the love of writing poems, which I put on the back burner until the age of 34. This started my journey of writing poetry. I wrote 100’s of poems but just put them away into a box in my room. One of my best friends Lis encouraged me to write a book of poems so twenty years later I published my 1st book of poems entitled “The Ballad Poetress, it was published 2020. From that beautiful gift that God instilled inside of me “Little Hue” was born my 1st children’s book was published February 2021. I am truly humbled that my journey of writing can help, inspire, encourage others that have a dream. Things like this don’t happen to someone like me. But God Provides…..
