Welcome to Latest Deals Podcast! This episode explores the latest supermarket news, including exciting new products, loyalty scheme updates, product recalls, and discontinuations.
• Aldi is bringing back its popular Ambiano Milk Frother, priced at £19.99, on October 6th. This “must-have” kitchen gadget allows shoppers to enjoy frothy coffee drinks at home for a fraction of the cost of similar models from brands like Nespresso. The milk frother heats milk to 75 degrees Celsius and features a non-stick interior for easy cleaning. Previous buyers praised it on social media, with one shopper describing it as “brilliant” and another calling it a “real game changer.” The frother can also be used to make indulgent hot chocolate drinks using powdered hot chocolate mix.
• Lidl has updated its loyalty scheme, making it easier for shoppers to earn free food. Previously, customers had to spend £50 in a month to receive a free bakery item through the Lidl Plus app. Now, shoppers can get a free bakery item after spending just £10. Spending £50 earns customers a free piece of fruit. Lidl Plus users also receive personalized coupons and generic discounts, along with a 10% off voucher for their next shop after spending £250 in a month.
• Sainsbury’s has apologized for discontinuing its Nush Almond Chive Cream Cheese due to low sales. The supermarket chain explained that they regularly evaluate their product ranges to cater to the majority of their customer base. However, the discontinued cheese, a dairy alternative made with almond milk, was popular among vegan and dairy-free shoppers, many of whom expressed disappointment on social media. The product remains available at Ocado.
• Tesco has issued an urgent recall on specific batches of its Tesco Finest Six All Butter Pastry Mince Pies due to the potential presence of small pieces of dry glue from the packaging. The affected products have best-before dates of October 4th, October 26th, November 2nd, and November 10th, 2024. Customers who have purchased these mince pies are urged not to eat them and to return them to Tesco for a full refund. No other Tesco products are affected by this recall.
