In the last 9 months, 21,301 unaccompanied alien children have crossed the US-Mexico border. Many fail to consider what happens to these children. On this special episode of LatinEQUIS I speak with Lorena Gonzalez, the development manager at the Young Center for immigrant children's rights about how to get involved and become a "waymaker" for the most vulnerable. Register for the "Be a Waymaker" benefit (July 23 at 6pm EST) at theyoungcenter.org, volunteer at theyoungcenter.org/volunteer and show your support on social media @theyoungcenter.

  • 16. The Truth Behind Sins & Virtues

Have you stopped to ask yourself how content is being produced with COVID-19 restrictions?

What are producers, directors, actors, and everyone involved in the TV and film industry doing if backlots and production houses are temporarily closed or only certain people are allowed to be on set at a given time?

On this episode of LatinEQUIS, I speak to Alex Mendoza, Yeniffer Behrens, Mauricio Mendoza and Cesar Gamiño, part of the dream team of more than 50 people who were involved in producing a feature film... from their own homes. From 2 countries and 17 remote set locations, the result was a 14 episode feature length anthology film titled: COVID19 Sins and Virtues.

  • 14. At the Center of Our Nations

Over the last few months, protests have been occurring all over the United States. George Floyd's death, which was captured through a video that made its way all over the world, didn't mark the beginning of something new, because peaceful and violent black lives matter protests have been occurring since 1919. On this episode, we talk about the Black Lives Matter movement and consider MLK's question: "what is it that America has failed to hear?"  Links and resources mentioned on this episode:  Washington Post Fatal Force Tracker, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), COVID Racial Tracker, @latinequis on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter,  Visit our website at wearelatinequis.com
