Lights! Cameras! Latino Film Action!
On this episode, @RachelLaLoca keeps it REEL and on location at Regal Cinemas in NYC. First off, her review is in! Hear all about the laughter and fun had when she went to see "The Parenting Musical", a hilarious show about raising children, including a song on the "official mom uniform"—yoga pants...playing now at Theatre Row on 42nd Street in NYC. See link below for more information.
Then...guess who's back? Founder and Executive Director of The New York Latino Film Festival, Calixto Chinchilla. This is Calixto's fourth time on the show, and Rachel promises, he will be greeted with a two-slice toaster and an embroidered jacket next time he is a guest.
The two stroll down memory lane, including Rachel's involvement, growth and a full circle moment she's had with #NYLFF. She started as a red carpet correspondent back in 2009 & 2010, starred in and voiced the commercial, spoke on a panel, served on a Q&A after the screening of a feature film she co-starred in, and it's only right the podcast continues to support the lights of nuestros filmmakers.
The two also speak on the films playing this week, the ancillary programming and opportunities this robust festival has to offer this Hispanic Heritage Month in NYC. Shout out to all the past guests of #LOL whose work will be a part of this year's festival @SelenisLeyva @Ramonpesante @ElianaReyes @yoyorick @GlorelysMora @nelsonestevez @FranceliChapman @ZolaDarton @EdgardoMiranda-Rodriguez @ChefKelvin and @BenDeJesus . Calixto shares plans on the fest traveling to Puerto Rico and other cities this year, as well as the many opportunities for those behind and in front of the cameras...so be sure to follow them on social @NYLatinoFilm

On this 404th episode of LOL, I recap my summer vacay aka the Tour De Familia to the South. I also get to recap the AMAZING event I went to before the break where I got to see the pilot episode of Eva Longoria's show, Land of Women, available now on Apple TV+. It was baller! They had the s most amazing candy bar I've ever seen LOL! I love the show--it's adventurous, loving and scary all at the same time. Make sure to check it out.
This week's guest is the Executive Director of The Banksy Museum, William Meade. he has the coolest job. And we LOVE Banksy's work...is he or she an artist or a vandal? What are your thoughts?
Little of Banksy's works are visible to the public at large. Most have been stolen for resale, inadvertently destroyed, or erased by overzealous city cleaning teams. Previously, most of this transient art could only be viewed on tiny smartphone screens, which is no way to experience the scale or emotion of Banksy’s work. The Banksy Museum brings the art back before the public, and brings a sense of original context to the works
The New York Banksy Museum experience, an American premiere, follows successful exhibitions in Paris, Barcelona, Kraków and Brussels.
The Banksy Museum, located at 277 Canal Street, NYC 10013 (at Broadway), is open daily, 10AM – 8PM. For more info visit MuseumBanksy.com And STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS ON A SPECIAL LOL EVENT AT THE MUSEUM THIS FALL!
ABOUT THE BANKSY MUSEUM
The Banksy Museum is now in in NYC. Displaying over 160 works by the world's most famous-yet-anonymous street artist, Banksy. the museum is home to the the world's largest display of Banksy work ever seen in a single setting.
The Banksy Museum recreates the revolutionary and often ephemeral art that Banksy has painted on surfaces in London, Bristol, Paris, Venice, Bethlehem, New York, Los Angeles, and beyond. The museum is an environmental experience, giving viewers access to Banksy creations, much of which has long since been whitewashed or dismantled.

LOL-eros! This is a very special episode of Latinos Out Loud, recorded at WBCR, the CUNY Brooklyn College radio station, and it was produced by some of the students of @RachelLaLoca's Advanced Radio and Podcasting class! Shout out to them (they just got closer to getting an A in the class LOL)!
On this episode, Rachel connected virtually with Co-creator, Writer, Co-Executive Producer and Co-star of the hit NBC comedy series “Lopez vs. Lopez, Mayan Lopez! The two Latinas chatted about their improv and sketch comedy training, Mayan being an alum of Second City Chicago and Rachel being an alum of UCB NY, and the representation (or lack thereof :/) of Latinas in that field of comedy training, as well as how that training is utilized in Mayan's performances on set. She also shared what it's like to work with her father, the iconic, George Lopez on this, the second season of the HILARIOUS TV show. Rachel was lucky enough to see a live taping of the show while out in LA a few weeks back, and recounts the incredible wit and flawlessness in watching the Lopez Vs. Lopez action LIVE. Mayan is killing it right now, having just served as a guest judge on Rupaul's Drag Race!
ABOUT LOPEZ VS LOPEZ
Once-estranged father and daughter George and Mayan navigate dysfunction, reconnection, and all the headaches and joy in between as they make up for lost time like only they can. With George back in the picture, he can always be counted on to provide Mayan with some unconventional parenting advice about her son Chance — while saving a few lighthearted barbs for her boyfriend, Quinten, for good measure. Then there's George's ex-wife, Rosie, who hasn't quite forgiven him. In the end, the Lopez clan gets by with a little drama, a lot of love, and a lifetime of laughter.
The cast includes George Lopez, Mayan Lopez, Selenis Leyva (former guest of LOL! [ep. 393, link below] ), Matt Shively, Brice Gonzalez and Al Madrigal (former guest of LOL [ep. #270, link below].
