In this episode I will explain the psychological foundation that leads to our fear of entrepreneurship based on Lazarus's theory of emotion. If you learn the basis of your fear then you can also learn how to overcome the fear. Entrepreneurship is often an abstract concept because it can pretty much explain anyone who has decided to go into business for themselves. So it becomes challenging to understand what is meant by a person who says they are an entrepreneur.
Well listen to this episode to hear how I break down how we were taught to think inside of boxes for our own protection and why entrepreneurship does not fit this mold. I will also help you break down your own biases and how to change that way of thinking.

Many if not most entrepreneurs and high performing people experience the imposter syndrome at some point of their lives. This is not intuitively a problem but can become a roadblock if you allow this to dictate your growth and direction you take in your career and life. This episode will give you examples of how I too experience the imposter syndrome and how I combat this and not allow it to impede my progress!
Learn how to allow the imposter syndrome and limiting beliefs co-exist but not control your life!

In this episode I will speak about how perception, patience, pivoting and perseverance are key for developing entrepreneurs. Skill can only take you so far but mindset is everything. Self-development is especially important when transitioning from employee to entrepreneur because there will be many days of defeat, hurt feelings and a desire to give up.. But that is not something you can do!

New and developing entrepreneurs often look toward those established individuals in their field for guidance and advice. Though at times we may also look toward family and friends for encouragement, direction and advice. But one thing we do not watch out for is how others perceive their lives and experiences. The ceiling effect will explain why sometimes advice may feel like rejection, hating or discounting your idea, business or craft.
In this episode I will break down the difference between your gut instinct and your brain instinct and how that is tied to our abilities to make decisions. These instincts also determine how you achieve success, happiness and fulfillment. Though we are taught intuitively to use our logic which is our brain/mind instinct and I will talk about how this goes against the risk taking needed to become an entrepreneur.
Hey Dr. Scoggins here just introducing myself and a purpose driven society that I hope to build at Lattes with the Ladies Podcast.
I am a licensed Psychologist in the state of California where I currently own my private practice (now at home due to COVID-19). I love to help people rise above their own expectations and limiting beliefs and I am always the last cheerleader to leave the room!! I always believe that there is a bright side to things and will try to find time to laugh even if it has to appear after the tears.
My transition came when I found that being a psychologist meant that the lens in which I see people is through their illness. That was a hard one to swallow as I always try to find what is right rather than what is wrong. But when I pivoted to a new perspective I found that I came so many people live in their struggle and find the answers they need to come out victorious. I love to watch people win in the face of haters... Come hang out and let's have some fun together!
