This Sunday we will be looking at the Law of Obedience. “Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye” (Proverbs 7:2). In Old and New Testament alike, the word obey means to hear. Jesus said, "He that hath ears to hear let him hear” (Matthew11:15). Obedience signifies an active response to something one hears, as opposed to passive listening. This is particularly true in regard to the voice or commandments of God. To hear God’s Word means to obey that Word; this is the Law of Obedience. This Sunday we will take a close look at three fundamental principles of obedience.
