Paul teaches that every governing authority stands under God's sovereign appointment, so submission to civil rule is ordinarily obedience to God. Resistance to lawful authority is therefore resistance to God's ordering of society and brings judgment. This does not make rulers perfect; it means God rules even through imperfect ones to preserve order, restrain evil, and call believers to humble, conscientious submission.

Hebrews 8:1–7 brings us to the covenantal climax of Hebrews: Jesus is the superior High Priest, serving in the true heavenly sanctuary, having accomplished what the Old Covenant could only foreshadow. The Old Covenant was good, but it was a shadow; Christ is the substance, and His New Covenant brings what the Law could never accomplish: definitive salvation and transformed hearts.

This class makes applications from Paul's teaching in Galatians about the danger of assuming law-keeping to be the way to becoming completed in the Christian life. We show that not only does this apply to OT law which was being promoted by Judaizers, but any other man-made system of works which are supposed to sanctify and perfect Christians. We argue that analyzing the details of one's old life in Adam in order to create a process to rectify various bad outcomes is a fool's mission. We begin new life in Christ by the Spirit and grow in grace by the Holy Spirit working in the lives of those who believe the promises of God. We provide many examples of false approaches that harm those who adopt them. We point to our relationship to God, through Christ by faith which makes everything new. The need to control the outcome using techniques amounts to looking for something akin to being 'bewitched' to use Paul's term. Growth in sanctification is not by works any more than salvation is.

God's law is meant to show you your sin and your need for Christ, not to provide a way for you to earn salvation. Through faith in Christ, you are freed from the law's condemnation and adopted as God's child by grace alone. Yet the law still has an important place in your life: it now guides you in living with gratitude and obedience. Instead of looking to your performance for acceptance, look to Christ—and let God's commands show you how to live as someone He has already redeemed.

This passage teaches us the same as 1 Peter 5:7-"Cast your care on Him, because He cares for you." So Jesus is teaching at least 2 things to His disciples that night on the Sea of Galilee-1. He is demonstrating who He is by showing His power over the wind and water. 2. He is teaching The disciples that is does have sympathy and compassion because He does care for them. They were afraid during the storm, now they are very much afraid after the storm. Well what's worse than having a storm outside your boat, is having God on your boat. A real cause for panic.
