Lawn chair Larry

Listen Later

Lawn chair Larry

Lawn chair Larry always dreamt of flying across the sky

Despite having too poor of eyesight  he always wanted to try

43 helium filled balloons strapped to his lawn chair, a CB,

some beer

Sandwiches, a pellet gun to lower himself, there was nothing

to fear

His girlfriend following on the ground, he planned the

entire thing out

A loose cable sent him off to the sky before he could tell

the cops about

Lawn chair Larry was flying, 16,000 feet over the primary

runway at Long Beach

Shot a couple balloons to drop down, but he had a little

problem as he started to reach

Dropped the pellet gun, caused a blackout ended up getting tangled

in some power line

Got arrested, fifteen minutes of fame, he got to fly and

despite the landing he was fine

Spiraled downward after that, lost his girl, lost his job couldn’t

deal with the pain inside

One October morning in Angeles National Forest, put a gun to

his heart and committed suicide

Dreams are wonderful vehicles to ride across the highways of

your fantasies in style

Hopes ride close beside, like a dog hanging his head out the

window, a great big smile

But dreams are not reality, and seldom do they come with any

sort of guarantee

Dream of winning the race, dream about flying high, strive

to be all that you can be

But if the reality of reaching your dreams doesn’t complete

you satisfactorily

Close your eyes and find another that does, lest you wind up

like poor lawn chair Larry
