*Its extremely not good to speak negatively about a Torah scholar, as one might not ask them questions or advice anymore. We can’t speak Lashon Hara about a foolish person either. Technically we can speak Lashon Hara about a heretic who denies G-d and Torah that we have first hand personal evidence of, HOWEVER everyone in this generation that is not observant is considered a tinok she’nishpat- a “stolen infant” _who therefor cannot be blamed for their lack of faith- so not a heretic,_ and cannot say Lashon Hara about them.*
