When you see a used bottle, what do you see? Trash? Well, Nyandia Kamawe sees treasure, raw material for her brilliant, creative mind to transform into beautiful and functional artwork. She flew across the world, to a land covered in snow in the winter and mosquitoes in the summer. After, many many bland meals of meat and potatoes, she decided to travel South, where she found her people. But even amidst the thriving community that embraced her for many years, she felt a deep longing to come back home. And so with little notice, she decided to take a leap, got on a plane and landed back in Nairobi. And there it was, her purpose, waiting for her with open arms, her gift unfurling its wings, ready to soar. And soar she has. Building with her hands, Nyandia Kamawe oversees a thriving enterprise Mokomaya, and as she has risen, she has lifted others too, opening doors for others, that they too may walk in their purpose. Mokomaya, in the Kikuyu language, means "these hands"
