There were many expectations around Jesus and the event that we celebrate as Palm Sunday. Many opinions, desires, and views that people wanted Jesus to fulfill. What were people expecting? What did Jesus come as? And how do we respond to this? Listen to our latest message: The Jesus we may not EXPECT but NEED.

In Part 2 of “The Greatest Commandment” we focus in on the call to love others, as in everyone. And the thing about loving others is we don’t mind when it’s those who are easy to love. But when it’s others who think, act, and behave differently than us? Well…. that’s a different matter. So how do we embrace Jesus’ command to love everyone? That’s the question of this message.

In scripture we see the call of God on individuals throughout. We see the same with Jesus. He called his followers specifically, intentionally, personally. And in the account of the Apostle Paul we see the calling of Jesus with clarity. Looking at Philippians 3 we look at how Paul responds to this call and what it calls us to as followers of Jesus.

How do we love one another sacrificially and with humility as Jesus models and calls us to? How can we ever hope to love others to this extent? Looking at Galatians 5 we consider our need for the Holy Spirit and his presence in our life to help us love one another well.

In some of his last words before going to the cross, Jesus says that his followers would be known by their love for one another. How do we do this? How do we maintain unity even when we’re on different sides in the church? Through the account of Israel crossing the Jordan River found in Joshua 1, we look at three ways that we can keep unity amidst increasing division.

Holding different convictions is a reality in the church. We will hold different opinions in many areas and this has the potential to cause not just cause strife, but division in the church. In order to love one another well and have our love witness to others, we cannot avoid this reality. We dive into this challenging topic by looking at Romans 14 and how scripture calls us to hold our convictions with one another.

1 Peter 2:9-17 asks us in light of what we have received from God and who we have become, how do we live? We look at three areas that are being changed in our lives in light of this incredible work of God in us - our motivation, our response, and our relationships.

In a world experiencing so much division, as Christians we have the opportunity to show the world Jesus through how we respond. We have given the Holy Spirit and the fruit of the Spirit are our guide to how we should act and react to the world around us. This week Gene Enns from Clearwater College specifically looks at love, joy, and peace and how we see this fruit manifested in God.

There are “5 D’s” in our lives that threaten to diminish and weaken our faith. How do we live with BIG FAITH amidst the reality of distress, despair, doubt, distraction, and disillusionment? By looking at examples of each of these in Matthew ‘s gospel we see how Jesus encourages us to live with big faith amidst these days.

When it comes to God’s love, how do we keep it simple? How do we learn to receive God’s love? How do we grow to love God more with every part of ourselves? How do we deal with those things competing for this love? We focus in on the greatest commandment that Jesus gave us in our latest message.
