Covenant faithfulness and devotion was always expected from all God's people, not just the Levites. Priest and Levite alike were called to carry the word in their heart in such a way that displayed the character of God. This was so important that God graciously decided to inscribe his laws for them so that they would always have them. Later on in a time of calamity and judgement God told the people that he would write his words on their hearts so that they might obey. Jesus was the walking fulfillment of this promise. It's an amazing thing to be called to the side of the Lord in covenant. His ways are awesome and the ways he calls men to join him is amazing. The fact that you have been called to the side of the Lord & set apart is no small thing. When men value the covenant, God is exalted & partners with that man to do amazing things.
