You understand French, but when it’s time to speak, the words stay in your head?
In this episode, I explain why it happens, and we practise together, out loud.
You will discover:
– why understanding and speaking are two different things
– why the words don’t come out in a real conversation
– a short exercise to speak French out loud with me, right now
– how my new conversation workshops work, in a small group, on Zoom
Three Tuesdays to speak French out loud, together: November 17 and 24, and December 1. Only six places, and registration closes on Sunday, November 15.

On se tutoie ou on se vouvoie ?
"Tu" or "vous"?
It is one of the trickiest questions in French.
In French, there are two ways to say "you": "tu" and "vous". And choosing the right one is one of the biggest challenges for learners.
It's not just grammar, it's also about the relationship between people, about respect, distance, and closeness.
In this episode, I explain everything, simply and clearly.
You will discover:
The basic rule: when to use "tu" and when to use "vous"
Where this habit comes from, and why the French Revolution once tried to abolish the "vous"
Who you say "tu" to, who you say "vous" to (family, strangers, children, colleagues…)
How and when French people switch from "vous" to "tu", and the little ritual behind it

Welcome to Season 2 of French et Moi.
If you listen to this podcast, you're probably learning French, you love French culture, and you want to truly understand it. That's exactly what we're going to keep doing this season (and even more!).
This year, I want to take you deeper into French culture: the codes, the way of life and thinking. The France you discover from the inside, while you keep improving your French.
In this episode, I share the new direction of Season 2 and I introduce Le Carnet, a new project I created for you between episodes.
Le Carnet is a letter I send you by email every two weeks.
Each edition takes a theme and shows you what's behind it:
A cultural fact, habit, or tradition that travel guides don't tell you about
A French expression with its story and meaning
A tongue twister to practice out loud
A seasonal French recipe to cook at home
Le Carnet is short, takes a few minutes to read, and it's free. A way to spend a little more time in France, without waiting for the next episode.
If you want to start exploring France between episodes, I'll see you in Le Carnet:
