On June 14, 2016, GCISD teachers, students, and parents attended the LEADing Digital Innovation @GCISD Conference. We were lucky enough to get George Couros as our keynote speaker and he graciously gave us time for a podcast interview as well.

Chris Laney, Elise Nabors, and Trelawny Shepherd join us to about their experiences teaching a podcast unit in their Media Tech Literacy classes. Then hear the debut episode of Lead GCISD Students, a new show that you can find in iTunes or your favorite podcast app!

Student led conferences at our elementary schools are pre-planned meetings that students lead. They talk to their parents about goals, work they're proud of, and data that supports reaching their goals. Tune in to hear teachers, students, and parents speak about this process in our district.

GCISD has a long history of innovation in technology. Our elementary campuses are 1:1, or a device for every student. This past January, two of our middle schools also went 1:1. In August of 2016, our other two middle schools will go 1:1. Some of the students from the first middle schools contacted me so that they could reflect on their experiences in a podcast episode. We talked about the differences between BYOD and 1:1, what they like, and what they get to create in this new world.
