Leadership: Community w/ Carolyn Tran

Listen Later

What does leadership in our own community look like?

Carolyn Tran (https://www.carolyntran.us/) came on the show as she was campaigning to run for NYC Council District 25. She talks about how she came into local government, and the many difficulties that a regular person faces trying to change a system that resists it. How does one still stand for being collaborative in a world of disinformation, corruption, inequality, and a lack of accountability?

Carolyn Tran is a Mẹ [pronounced MAY-yuh] to two daughters. Feminist. Surfer. Public Servant. She has served Council District 25, mostly behind the scenes. In 2009, she moved to Queens to pursue a masters from the Milano School of Policy, Management, and Environment at The New School and in 2013 Jackson Heights became her home. She began working in Council Member Dromm’s office in 2010 and has served as Chief of Staff for the past 5 years.
