In this episode, host Karli Burridge speaks with Angie Golden about how Angie got involved in obesity medicine, the pros and cons of owning her own clinic, and about leadership, mentorship, how to incorporate obesity medicine into primary care, and so much more.
Dr. Angela (Angie) Golden is a doctorally prepared Family Nurse Practitioner. She owns practice in Arizona that specializes in the treatment of the chronic disease of obesity in the NP Obesity Treatment Clinic in Flagstaff, Arizona.
She has served as the Chair of the Obesity Medicine Association's CME Overview Committee and has been instrumental in ensuring that speakers use inclusive language for all healthcare providers. She has also spearheaded using the term “obesity” rather than “weight management”, which is important in recognizing obesity as a disease state.
Dr. Golden has been a leader at AANP and AAPA on the topic of obesity and she is also a founding member of the Arizona Obesity Organization. She is a past-president of AANP.
Additionally, she has authored a book Treating Obesity in Primary Care published by Springer.
