Derrick McManus is a speaker, facilitator and author who teaches high performers the power of Human Durability.

He was a police officer with the South Australian Police for 42 years. He spent 10 of those years with Special Tasks and Rescue Group (STAR). He has been a Sniper, Tactical- Diver, and Counter Terrorist Operative and did Close Quarter protection for the Queen when she was in South Australia. At the end of his police career, he taught leadership at the Police Academy.

Derrick knows first hand what it means to experience Human Durability. While part of the STAR group, his team went to arrest an offender. The offender shot Derrick 14 times with a .308 caliber in less than 5 seconds. It was 3 hours before he could be rescued. After 2 and a half years of intensive rehabilitation, Derrick was able to return to full duties with STAR group.

His experience taught him the value of Human Durability. His research includes collaborations with The University of South Australia School of Psychology and The Military and Emergency Health Services Health Australia.

When he has free time, you will find him spending time with his 4 kids, cycling, swimming, and hitting the gym.

Ted Rau is a trainer, consultant, and co-founder of the non-profit organization Sociocracy For All.

He was born in Germany and earned his Ph.D. in linguistics in 2010. Afterward his Ph.D, he moved to the USA and fulfilled a long-held desire to live in an intentional community. He currently resides in a co-housing community located in Massachusetts with his five children and 70 neighbors.

Ted’s perspective is influenced by his interest in Nonviolent Communication and Social Justice, being part of a global sociocracy organization at work, a parent at home, and being a member of the transgender community.

Dr. Cathy Owens-Oliver is an accomplished speaker, author, instructional coach, education  policy analyst, and National Board Certified Teacher. For more than 25 years, in 46 of 50 states as well as Canada, she has provided consulting services for instructional coaches, college faculty, state boards, and state departments of education.

​She is the President and CEO of Educational Effectiveness Group, a coaching, and consulting practice that helps K-12 schools and colleges of education improve teaching and solve problems that hinder student learning.

 ​She is the author of Why Schools Fumble, a national bestseller in Pedagogy and Educational Problem-Solving. She has presented at countless national conferences and written for leading education journals including Accomplished Teacher Magazine, the Journal of Staff Development, and the Hope Foundation’s What Works in Schools newsletter. Her work also appears in the college textbook: Black Star: An Introduction to African-American Studies.

​She earned her doctorate in Education, Leadership, Management, and Policy at Seton Hall University, and completed studies at NC A&T State University, and the University of NC - Greensboro (where she was a NC Teaching Fellow). 

 She has held senior roles at the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, Learning Forward, Educational Testing Service, and the NC Department of Public Instruction. She has served as adjunct faculty for several colleges.

 She completed leadership and coaching training with the NC Center for the Advancement of Teaching, Dale Carnegie Corporation, Institute for Management Studies, Jack McDowell School for Leadership Development, and the Parker Palmer Center for Courage and Renewal. 

​She has served as a director of ministerial training in NC, MI, and PA. She is the Dean of Education for the COGIC International Sunday School Department and President of the GirlsGotLIFE Foundation. Affectionately known as Dr. O, she has assisted several faith-based groups in implementing organizational change. She enjoys golf, gardening, and mentoring millennials.

Champion gymmast Gaby Geiculescu talks leadership in sports, using her experience as an elite Romanian gymnast, business owner and coach.

In 1979, Gaby earned her Master in Gymnastics (Maestru al Sportului in Gimnastica) in Romania at the age of 13. She ranked 63rd best gymnast in the world and the 10th best  gymnast in Romania.

When Gaby was 7 years old, she was selected from a school playground. She trained with Rodica Apateanu at C.S.S. Triumf in Bucharest. In 1978 she was then selected by Petru Ioan to as part of an exclusive group to begin training for the 1980 Olympic Games.

In 1979 at the National Junior Championships, Gaby won Bars and the All-Around. Immedaitely after, she joined the National Olympic Team at Deva where she was coached by the infamous Bela Karolyi and his wife Martha Karolyi. Some of her teammates include 5-time Olympic Gold medalist Nadia Comaneci, 1980 Olympic Silver medalist Emilia Eberle, 1984 Olympic Gold medalist Lavinia Agache, 1980 Olympic Silver medalist Melita Ruhn, 4-time Olympic Gold medalist Ecaterina Szabo, 1980 Olympic Silver medalist Rodica Dunca, 1980 Olympic Silver medalist Dumitrita Turner, Marilena Neacsu and Marilena Vladarau.  As a former Romanian National Team Member, she competed internationally as a Junior Elite between 1975-1980 in Germany, Bulgaria, China, Hungary, Soviet Union, Poland, Checkoslovakia (XV Spartakiada), Israel (11th International Games of Hapoel in May 1979), London (Coca-Cola in December 1979), Moskow News (March 1980), and was training to represent Romania in the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow.
