In this episode, I will be discussing two topics: Smiling and Generosity.

Do you know what motivates you? What gives you the energy to accomplish the task set before you? Understanding extrinsic and intrinsic motivation is important in understanding yourself and how to effectively lead others.

With this being my 52nd episode, I thought I would deviate from my regular pattern. With this episode I have attained the initial goal I set out for myself; to record at least a full year of episodes, one for each week.

Blood is thicker than water. Literature if full of stories that emphasize that. Knowing that to be true, you can be better prepared to deal with situations and issues by following the tips I’ve shared in this episode.

In this episode I'm going to be talking about taking offense and giving offense. When someone takes offense easily the aphorism is that “they wear their emotions on their sleeve,” implying that their emotions are so near the surface that they are easily provoked. Such people might be called overly sensitive, or merely emotional. Find out how to deal with this issue in this episode

This might come as a surprise, but it is possible to be genuine and truthful, and still not offend everyone you meet. It does mean, however, that you have to take responsibility for what you are saying and how you are saying things and begin to consider others.

Attitudes are contagious, especially those of the leader. Negativity will sink the morale of everyone around you. It can creep up on you so subtly that you may not even realize it has become a prominent part of your perspective. Before you know it your perceived “sharp analytical perspective” is viewed as disruptive and depressing. You’ve been relegated to the label of “boat rocker” or “rebel without a cause” and lost credibility and influence.

Know this, an articulate person, using good grammar, will always have a better chance for being hired or being promoted. You get a choice, but be aware that your choice will long-term implications for you and possibly your family as well.

There are some tasks that will make the difference between success and failure: at home, work and life in general. These are the Tasks Which Define Success; do those tasks well, and success is assured. Fail to do those tasks, or do them poorly, and mediocrity and failure are in your future.
