Craig Randall is a former international school administrator.  In this episode we discuss his journey to a revelation about teacher observations.  Trust is critical for those observations to work.  Craig discusses his new book, "Trust-Based Observations," and we explore why building relationships is critical to the success of teacher observations and feedback.

I met Shannon Hobbs-Beckley at a conference in DC.  I remember her talking about her passion for leading teachers, specifically in the realm of Coaching.  As I began to understand a little bit more about her role at Graded American School, I was intrigued by the school's decision to hire Deeper Learning Coaches.  This move was fascinating, and it shows a true commitment to effective teaching and learning.  I am so excited that Shannon was able to join the podcast to share a little bit about her personal journey with Coaching and the journey that Graded is beginning this year with Deeper Learning.

Today's episode focuses on lessons learned during the 12 week Virtual Learning period at the American International School of Dhaka during the end of the 2019-2020 school year.  We are joined with Jennifer Bertram, the Middle School Principal, to reflect upon those lessons, and discuss some plans that we might take forward into the 2020-2021 school year.

Gregg Weltz has been a close friend for almost 8 years.  Even though we are many miles apart and we don't see each other regularly, we still are able to connect and talk about our shared experiences as if they are still happening today.  Gregg coached alongside me in Uganda, and he invested almost all of his time and energy into the school where his son was attending.  Today's episode is to hear about his experiences and to try to see international schools through the lens of the parent.

John Zahara is the Athletic Director at the International School of Uganda.  Over the past few years, he has worked tirelessly to build a program that is focused on student development.  This episode is about some of his challenges and success, and the show also harnesses the power of a strong activities department and the impact that ASAs have on students.
