“Setting the scene is not the same a s painting a word picture but it is very, very close. Take the time to create a space people can recall either from their own past, or at least in their imagination for the length of your story. In theater they call it staging and blocking. Because body language, character positioning and interactions all say more than the words the characters are speaking it is an efficient use of your time. Setting the scene saves words, creates a lasting impression, anchors the story in the memory of your audience and gives your point the stickiness of a traveling seed.”

“Using a story which seems unrelated to connect buyers with sellers is an art form. It doesn’t always happen on the first try. Sometime the story must be reconsidered. Sometimes the redrafted story is powerful at connecting, but not true to the moment nor authentic to the storyteller. This coaching demonstration was live at an event with no previous knowledge or relationship between myself and the participant. The retold story has great aspects to it but there is much more that could be done given more time coaching.”
