This week, I went to see the movie, The Shift, which starred Neal McDonough, Kristoffer Polaha, and Sean Astin. It's a Sci-Fi take on the story of Job and boy, did it hit the mark! Great movie. Listen and I'll tell you why.

Sometimes it's nice to have an example. Just something to help us understand what is being presented to us. I like to think that my role here is to be an example. I like to think that through sharing my experiences, I can help others who are going through things that are similar to the things I've gone through. This isn't always the case, but more often than not, the things we are willing to share can be very beneficial to those who are struggling to understand the purpose of what they are going through. That's my role. At least for now.

Why is it that some books in the Bible focus on listing out names and calling out the roles that some people were going to play in a given time period or experience? In these days of chaos and disappointment, we truly need to be wise about which battles we fight and which ones we hand off to the next warrior. Not all battles are ours to take on, however, every battle we do step into gives us the strength to fight another day. And God never sends us into battle without equipping us. Nehemiah tells us of how the walls of Jerusalem were rebuilt, even amidst great opposition. Often, when we're rebuilding a broken portion of ourselves or our lives, we face opposition as well. We have to keep the faith and press forward knowing that God never sends us into a battle He hasn't equipped us for. And if we're fighting a battle for which we don't feel equipped, well...perhaps we weren't actually invited to that one. Listen and be amazed and amused by my lack of podcasting prowess. If nothing else, it's a great way to fill fifteen minutes.
