John shares how he works to get people who need help in to AA meetings. Bruce shares personal stories with alcohol and how he overcame it on the road to a recovering alcoholic.   • WPA Volunteer Award Winners

    Jim meets with winners and runner ups from the 2024 WBA Volunteer Awards.

    Director of Donor Engagement & Marketing Kari Moody from Curative Connections joins Jim this afternoon discussing the needs and accomplishments of this program. Celebrating their 75th anniversary, starting out as a polio clinic. Whatever the community has needed, curative pivoted to become what they needed. Curative Connections has been here to help through use of 4 Facilities, 15 programs and support up to 1550 families, seniors and people a week with life skills, employments, adult daycares (social rec), and work with brain rehab, wellness, and dementia through their programs.

    Laundry Love with Helping Hands started 20 years ago in California when a member came upon a homeless person and asked what can they do to help. They said “Give me dignity.” But how could someone do that? They said “Give me clean clothes, so I’m not stereotyped when I walk into any business”.

    What do they do? It’s as simple as providing the money and the soap to do laundry” Says Director Jean VandenLangenberg.

    Laundry Love currently holds three events per month at Express Laundry Center, 1742 E. Mason St. in Green Bay. bringing such a simple thing as clean laundry can make such an amazing difference in families lives. A clean place to sleep and giving people a piece of humanity back.

  • Protecting our Youth from Homelessness

    Jim sits with the Director of Freedom House Ministries: Jennifer Schmohe and Executive Director of House of Hope: Shannon Weinandt to discuss how homelessness affects more than just individuals. It affects families, children, anyone who just cannot make ends meet.

    Freedom House takes in families, large ones even with a goal to find a home in green bay and get them connected with stable housing. Housing Vouchers are bridges to housing programs in the community. And they go beyond by creating chore for weekly accountability to help build stability.

    House of Hope focuses on homeless between 0-17 years of age. Drop in center open 24hrs a day and 14-21years old can access it with case managers around the clock and a safe place to be until they can find a place to go. Grounded in the understand they are human people working with human people. Creating a culture of trust with a method to do the least amount of harm in approach. houseofhopegb.org to find their wishlists with high demand for bath towels, twin sheets, and laundry detergent.

    In an average year they’ve seen 26 unaccompanied minors come through the shelter. It’s very dangerous for them seeing as in as little as 24 hours a youth could be exploited. Ground in the understand they are human people working with human people. Create culture of trust. Do the least amount of harm approach. Both have a long Wish Lists with high demand for bath towels, twin sheets, and laundry detergent and so much more, like volunteers. You can donate today.
