Publisher's Summary:
There are many of us who dream about selling all our stuff, quitting our jobs, and running away to Paradise. This is a story about one couple who made that dream come true. The author shares what it feels like to experience ultimate freedom, and outlines the steps they took to get there. The story includes tales from their travels, social commentary on the state of today's American society, and a simple financial plan that will benefit anyone, regardless of their future goals.
Throughout the narrative the listener is treated to dolphins and manatees, pelicans and osprey, blue skies, blue water and white sand beaches. Tropical music plays a role as well. Hear how music inspired them to execute their plan. Follow along as they transform from everyday working drones to carefree boat bums and beachcombers. This audiobook will make you rethink how you look at life, and money.
Members Reviews:
Shallow, lacks depth.
Any additional comments?
what a disappointment, the author is quirky and egocentric. the book has long rants about himself his routines and even the "monkey sex" he enjoys with his wife. I found myself saying who cares, enough already! I was also misled. The sailboat on the cover led me to believe he is a sailor but he bought a stink pot and drives it around Florida. No adventure here. The narrator was also hard to listen to.
Could not wait for it to be over...
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No, I was waiting and hoping for it to get better, but it didn't. The only thing decent about the book was a few sound financial tips if you ever wish to retire.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
"Just do it." Now you get the point of the book and you can spare yourself some money and time...
Loved the story and encouraged me to work hard to achieve our dream!
I want to recommend this book to, so many of my boating friends. We live on a boat already and I am always bragging about how much cheaper it is. I sold my house, other boat and most of my possession. I did realize by this book we still need to get rid of more. I need to learn to be more frugal. We are on our way to making this dream a reality. We are a few months away from setting our 58 foot Hatteras off on a journey from, cold winter, Cincinnati OH on the Ohio River to Baytown, TX. Super excited about our new life. This book encouraged my dream more and made me realize where I need to do better to achieve it.
I like this book
This book was pretty interesting and eye opening. Full of good information and makes one think seriously about life, fun, money, dreaming big, and going for it. I love the description of where they anchor & enjoy the beach. They have all sorts of free time. Time enough to write some cool books (Breeze series).
Dave Write is a talented Narrator and Ed lives the dream!
I have listened to this book several times. Every time i find myself overspending this book brings me back down to earth and helps me focus on my goal of sailing away for a good long while. The part where he talks about how the world has lost its damn mind is not only hilarious but also frighteningly accurate.
Great book! Well done Ed.
