Sahih al-Bukhari – The Book of Tawheed – Lesson 50 (21/04/18)

While I was with the Prophet, some people from Bani Tamim came to him. The Prophet said, "O Bani Tamim! Accept the good news!" They said, "You have given us the good news; now give us (something)." (After a while) some Yemenites entered, and he said to them, "O the people of Yemen! Accept the good news, as Bani Tamim have refused it. " They said, "We accept it, for we have come to you to learn the Religion. So we ask you what the beginning of this universe was." The Prophet said "There was Allah and nothing else before Him and His Throne was over the water, and He then created the Heavens and the Earth and wrote everything in the Book." Then a man came to me and said, 'O Imran! Follow your she-camel for it has run away!" So I set out seeking it, and behold, it was beyond the mirage! By Allah, I wished that it (my she-camel) had gone but that I had not left (the gathering).

Today we covered:

• What was at the beginning of the Universe?

• Decree was written 50,000 years before the creation of the heavens and the earth

• When Allaah created the pen He said ‘Write!’ and the pen replied, ‘What shall I write?’ Allaah replied, ‘Everything that is going to happen from now until the day of judgement’

• What was created first, the pen or the Throne?

• Allaah always was and always will be and we do not delve any further into this matter.

• If a person starts to have such whisperings as, ‘Who created Allaah?’ Then you reply with Soorah Al-Iklaas:

قُلۡ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ (١) ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ (٢) لَمۡ يَلِدۡ وَلَمۡ يُولَدۡ (٣) وَلَمۡ يَكُن لَّهُ ۥ ڪُفُوًا أَحَدٌ (٤)

Say (O Muhammad (SAW)): "He is Allâh, (the) One.[] (1) "Allâh-us-Samad (السيد الذي يصمد إليه في الحاجات) [Allâh the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, (He neither eats nor drinks)]. (2) "He begets not, nor was He begotten;[] (3) "And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him." (4)

• The tafseer of Surah Al-Ikhlas

o There is no comparison to Allaah

o This surah is equivalent to a third of the Quran (10 Juzz)

o The 3 topics of the Qu’ran

o Refutation of the Christians when they say that Easa is the son of Allaah

o The Angels are NOT the children of Allaah

o The meaning of ‘As-Samad’

• The Throne of Allaah

• Al lawd al Mafood (The preserved tablet)

o The meaning of Laylatul Qadr

o The decree of the unborn that is still in the womb of the mother

o The rulings around the miscarriage

o How to respond to the one who says, ‘The pre- decree has already been written so why should we strive with obedience?’

We arrive at the chapter concerning the ruling of menstruation and post-natal bleeding. Allaah says: “They ask you concerning menstruation. Say: that is an Adha, therefore keep away from women during menses and go not unto them till they are purified. And when they have purified themselves, then go in unto them as Allâh has ordained for you. (2: 222)
