ʿUmdatul Fiqh by Ibn Qudāmah al-Maqdisī (raḥimahullāh), with the explanation of Shaykh ʿAbdullāh al-Bassām and Shaykh ʿUbayd al-Jābirī (raḥimahumallāh), taught by Ustādh Abdul Hakeem Mitchell (hafidhahullāh)
• Continuing from the ʿiddah: the mourning of the woman whose husband has died
• She stays in her home and avoids perfume, adornment, fine clothing and jewellery
• Mourning is obligatory for the widow for four months and ten days, while others may mourn for three days only
• Leaving the home when needed, and what being close enough to return means today
• The ʿiddah still applies when a marriage ends because one spouse enters or leaves Islam, to preserve lineage
• Housing and maintenance during the ʿiddah: the woman who can be taken back, the irrevocably divorced woman who is pregnant, and the widow
• Shaykh ʿUbayd: hold to the rulings as far as you are able, and act by necessity beyond that
