In this question and answer session from the Middlesbrough Islamic Conference 2010, Ustaadh Abu Khadeejah answers questions on various important topics.

Ustaadh begins by giving advice on ways in which a woman can find a husband. He emphasises the importance of being strict with regards to who you marry; that you marry a man who is righteous, upon the Sunnah and following the way of the Salaf. Also, that one must remain patient when tested with such a trial.

The following are the questions that were posed to Ustaadh Abu Khadeejah with the corresponding minute marker from the audio:

Q1. Can you offer some advice on ways in which a woman is able to find a husband, when a family have done all they can and the woman is left single and with no options? [0:07]

Q2. If a Christian man needs to marry a Muslim sister and told that he would have to change his religion for her sake, is it acceptable in Islam? Is there any way that could help the man focus upon Islam and not on the woman? [2:00]

Q3. What is the situation of a man who kicks his pregnant wife? [26:40]

Q4. What do you say about a man who wants his unborn child to be a boy and he tells his wife that if it is a girl he will leave her? [28:59]

This is the second lesson in the Ramadan series. In this lesson Ustadh Abu Humayd discusses the great virtues of reaching the month of Ramadan. In particular;

-A hadith which discusses who is better, the one who strove in the way of Allaah and died as a martyr or the one who reaches an extra Ramadan than the first individual.

-A hadith which mentions some actions that can enter a person into Jannah, irregardless of whether they fought in the way of Allaah or they remained in the land they were born in.

-How sins can be wiped away during Ramadan. Is it enough to simply just fast from food and drink with no consciousness of what you are doing? Which sins are wiped away, major or minor?

-An explanation of the meaning of the statement of Allaah Azza wa Jal “Every action of the son of Adam is for himself, except for fasting. For indeed it is for Me and I shall reward him for that”

Ustaadh Abu Iyaad goes through a hadeeth using the concise explanation f Sheikh Saalih Al Fawzaan. The hadith is used by the scholars as an evidence for the five pillars of Islam: The Testimony of Faith ( That no diety is worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammed, peace be upon him, is the Messenger of Allah), Prayer, Charity, Fasting and Hajj.

The speaker gives a beautiful analogy of a building, emphasising the importance of these pillars and foundations.

He breaks down the meaning of the testimony of faith of the Muslim, and four affairs which follow on from that.

A short reminder by Abu Iyaad where he speaks about the actions a person can take which could save an individual from the hellfire. The speaker mentions that from these opportunities is the month of Ramadan, as seen from the pious predecessors, where they would supplicate to Allah for six months asking to reach the next Ramadan, and if reached, they would spend the next six months fearful as to whether their fasting and actions would be accepted or not.
