• The danger of fasting becoming a habit rather than an act of worship as Ramaḍān goes on

• How Allāh distinguished this month: fasting made obligatory, with even the sick and the traveller making it up and the elderly feeding a poor person

• The Qurʾān revealed in Ramaḍān, on Laylat al-Qadr, which is better than a thousand months

• Ramaḍān as mercy, forgiveness or freedom from the Fire for three types of people

• The month of patience: in obedience, in keeping away from the forbidden, and with the decree

• The gates of Paradise opened, the gates of Hell closed and the devils chained, and the one who reaches Ramaḍān and is not forgiven

• The example of the trader at the end of his season: the believer takes account of what he gained in Ramaḍān

• The Salaf spent six months asking Allāh to accept their Ramaḍān and six months asking to reach the next; Allāh only accepts from the people of taqwā, and the definition of Ṭalq ibn Ḥabīb

• The sign that a fast was accepted is that the person is better after Ramaḍān

• Ar-Rayyān, fasting being for Allāh, fasting and the Qurʾān interceding, and Ramaḍān to Ramaḍān expiating what is between them

• The blessing of suḥūr, hastening to break the fast, the reward for feeding a fasting person, and Zakāt al-Fiṭr given before the ʿĪd prayer
