Čechy jsou západní částí tradiční české země.

Nyní jsou součástí České republiky. Čechy hrají po staletí důležitou roli v historii střední Evropy.

Z 10,3 miliónů lidí žijících v České republice jich 6 miliónů bydlí v Čechách.

Na západ od tohoto kraje leží Německo a na severovýchodě je Polsko.

Na východu hraničí Čechy s regionem Morava. Na jižní straně leží Rakousko.

Čechy jsou obklopeny pohořími, včetně Krušných hor a Krkonoší.

Na konci první světové války se Čechy staly součástí Československa. To bylo v roce 1993 po pádu komunismu rozděleno na Českou republiku a Slovensko.

Bezprostředně po druhé světové válce nastaly v Čechách problémy mezi většinovou českou populací a národnostními menšinami maďarského a německého původu.

Pohraniční regiony v Čechách byly osídleny především etnickými Němci. Po Mnichovu v roce 1938 si nacistické Německo připojilo tato území.

Následující rok si Německo připojilo zbytek Čech a Moravy.

V letech 1939 až 1945 byly Čechy a Morava součástí německého Protektorátu Čechy a Morava.

Na konci druhé světové války byli všichni etničtí Němci vyhnáni z českého území a jejich majetek propadl Čechům.

Československo bylo obnoveno a dostalo se pod vliv Sovětského svazu.

Po rozpadu Československa byla v roce 1993 vytvořena Česká republika.

Bohemia is the western part of traditional Czech country.

It is now a part of the Czech Republic, and it has been an important part of central European history for centuries.

About 6 million of the 10.3 million people who live in the Czech Republic reside in Bohemia.

Germany lies to the region's west, while Poland is on its northeastern side.

The region of Moravia borders it on the east, and Austria lies on its south side.

Bohemia is surrounded by mountain ranges, including the Ore Mountains and the Krkonose.

At the end of World War I, Bohemia became the main part of Czechoslovakia, which in 1993 after the fall of Communism was separated into the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Immediately following World War II, there were problems between the majority Czech population of Bohemia and the native minorities who were of Hungarian and German descent.

In 1938 after the Munich Agreement, Bohemia's border regions were primarily inhabited by ethnic Germans, and Nazi Germany annexed those areas.

The following year, Germany annexed the rest of Bohemia and Moravia.

Between 1939 and 1945, part of Bohemia and Moravia were part of the German Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.

At the end of World War II, all ethnic Germans were expelled from the Czech lands and their property confiscated by the Czechs.

Czechoslovakia was then reestablished and got under the influence of the Soviet Union.

After Czechislovakia's dissolution, the Czech Republic was established in 1993.
