In this episode of Learn Their Way, we'll discuss teaching time management strategies to kids. As a very type-A person who likes organization and structure, I think it's important for my kids to follow a schedule...most of the time. But the more opportunities my kids have to take ownership of their daily routines and find their own favorite time management strategies, the better.

As adults, it’s really easy for us to put labels on kids. Shy, wild, reserved, outgoing. Smart, stubborn, dawdler, defiant.
It’s normal that we have ideas about who our kids are and who they’re going to grow up to be. But we need to step back, and let our kids decide that for themselves. They will tell us who they are.
In this episode of Learn Their Way, we’ll talk about why we need to be careful putting labels on our kids -- even positive ones -- and why we all need to take a break and rest every once in a while.

The most common concern I hear from parents is that their children can’t sit still, can’t focus, can’t stay on task — at meals, during school or homework time, or when a parent is talking.
It is completely NORMAL for children to have short attention spans. That doesn’t mean we can’t work on it, to build stamina over time.
In this episode of Learn Their Way, you’ll hear five simple, practical tips for strengthening attention spans at home.

Our kids are all unique, and, as their parents, we get to inspire, empower, and encourage them to learn their way. And the first step to personalizing their learning at home and in the classroom is understanding what makes them unique.
Learning styles can be a helpful tool for ensuring that children are given lots of opportunities to learn something new. They can also help us communicate better with teachers, navigate homework struggles, and enjoy learning together.
In this episode, we discuss three myths about learning styles and how we can use them to help our children learn, in and out of the classroom.

Just like there is no one “right” path for a road trip, there is also no one RIGHT way to learn. There is only the right way for your child and your family. Every journey will be different because our children are all unique!
One of my favorite quotes ascribed to Madeline Hunter says, “Expecting all children the same age to learn from the same materials is like expecting all children the same age to wear the same size clothing.”
Great teachers -- and great parents -- strive to understand how a child learns best, so that they can find success in and out of the classroom.
